All HD DVD Titles 30% Off At Best Buy
I haven't seen this posted here. I've been to two Best buys and both have a sign up that all HD DVD software is 30% off. I picked up Beowulf for $20. I suppose this might be a YMMV thing, but the sign they put up looks like one of their corporate sale signs, so I would imagine it's everywhere.

really? even at 30% off Best Buy is still 20% more expensive than Amazon/Deep Discount.
MAYBE for a new release you can cherry pick one or two titles, but definitely not a stock up situation.

With his discount and the 30% off, I'll stock up.

Friends are good.
Friends with discounts at stores blowing out their HD stock, even better.

The problem with this is that some Best Buys are raising their prices on the HDs to MSRP before the 30%. One I was at last night practically had the whole section re-stickered over the old price.

Will post what I see.
Possibly snap off a few pics.

I'm curious to hear what bargains you guys pick up... I think some of these prices are online as well. It doesn't say they are on sale for 30% off (it just says "on sale", but the prices are pretty low. Bourne Identity and the Mummy movies, for instance, are $10.49 ea.

They had this posted on Tuesday when I was there. With everything marked $24.99 and up it's still not worth bothering with.
At this point, anything over $10 is too high for a dead format, IMO. Especially since the bulk of what's out there are catalog titles.

Picked up Dune, Backdraft for $10.49 at the store.

The closest BB to me (10 minutes) had a single copy of "Pride and Prejudice" as well as Tremors, so in-store pickup wasn't available online.
I had to drive to another BB about 15 miles further that had both for in-store pickup.

And also, 30% may NOT be as low as this goes.
Heard at the Best Buy over here that corporate will reduce these an additional 20% if need be to clear them out by May. One catch though and it's a shitty one, they would bump up the OUR PRICE to the LIST PRICE, which is usually some astronomical sum, in order to financially save face from the debacle that was the format war.
I'll check out the validity of that rumor at the Best Buy in Santa Monica tonight.

They will sell all they can for 30%, which is probably as low as they can go and still make a profit, it is also what they should have charged from the beginning.
Then they sell back all their inventory, in bulk to Amazon for so much on the dollar.
Much smarter move for them, the Joe Six Pack thinks they are getting a deal (see the CompUSA closings for that brilliance) then when they really need to get rid of them, they get to rid all their inventory at once, space shelf opens up.
Makes sense, doesn't it?
