Here's some scoop (http://peoplefalltv.wordpress.com/2008/03/04/before-idol-david-hernandez-was-a-nude-dancer/?xid=email-peopledaily-20080304-20181792) to start things off:

Before Idol, David Hernandez Was a Nude Dancer

March 4, 2008

A former job in the life of American Idol finalist David Hernandez may have come back to haunt him, now that the manager of a male strip club in Phoenix says that the 24-year-old performed in the buff at the establishment for three years, ending in September 2007.

“He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here,” Gordy Bryan, manager of Dick’s Cabaret, an establishment for men, tells the Associated Press.

What Hernandez’s past may mean to his future on Idol remains to be seen. In 2003, finalist Frenchie Davis was removed from the running once it was revealed her picture appeared on an adult Web site — though last year Antonella Barba stayed in the race, despite her racy photos on the Internet.

A spokeswoman for FOX did not return calls seeking comment, AP reports.

Hernandez’s first Idol audition took place in San Diego, Calif., on July 30, 2007 — precisely two months before he left Dick’s Cabaret, according to Bryan.

As of Tuesday morning, the singer was slated to perform with the other male contestants on Tuesday night’s program.

They better not kick him off.

Anyways, I think Luke Menard goes home for sure. Not sure who the last man out is.

Luke's a goner. She doesn't stand a chance. I'll make an early guess that the stoner goes with him.

For the ladies, let's go with Britney and the cage fighter.

das - who's the stoner you are referring to?

Luke's time is definitely up this week.

The "stoner" would be Jason Castro, but there's no chance of him leaving this early after his strong first week performance ("What a Day for a Daydream", originally by The Lovin' Spoonful).

Speaking of which, do you know what the name "Lovin's Spoonful" is referring to? It's the same thing as what 10cc is referring to.

My early prediction... David Hernandez will be disqualified, and Luke Menard will be the only male voted off.

Haha, check out AOL trying to get in on the action by creating a non-story about "racy" pics of Ramiele.

These are regular pics of a fully dressed girl having fun with her friends (no alchohol, no nudity, no gestures). Just a bra showing through her clothes and her doing a breakdance move.

What's AOL gonna do next? Get some beach photos of contestants and say they're "pornographic"?

Oh man  If that's right, then this promises to be a craptacular 2 nights (on top of the wonderful discomfort that will surround David H's gay stripper expose). I can see some clear matchups with these songs: David Archuletta seems a good match for #1. Though it would be funny if he tackled #16, with his gaspy wheezy vocal style (and needless to say, he'll completely miss the creepy aspect of the song and do it as a straight love ballad). Amanda and Kim Carnes seems a natural fit (though I'm still holding out hope for Bonnie Tyler), but I could see her doing Turner or Mellencamp too. Carly wouldn't dare do another Heart song, would she? And one of the divas (Syesha or Asia'h) has to try to butcher one of Whitney's cheesiest songs. Chikezie has to be #10. And it would be hilarious if David H did the theme song of "American Gigilo", but I doubt he would. And if someone picks #15 they deserve to be voted off - one of the worst songs of the decade. And if a "rocker" picks it, may the rock gods smite them down right on stage.

1-Everytime you go away - This seems like the sort of song that will be really ironic and funny if the person ends up going home on Thursday.

2-what about love - I will laugh if this is Carly, because she's already done Heart twice (once in Hollywood, once last week).

9-bette davis eyes - I'm going to guess this is Amanda.

10-celebration - Oh for the love of god.

15-we built this city - Haha, who the hell picked this?

And the tough part is trying to imagine what Chikeizie would do out of that bunch... I sincerely hope for his sake it's not #10.

Face it ... you KNOW Chikeze's doing #10! :) And thinking about, Danny must be doing #3 - and doing an over-the-top flamboyant version too.

I'd still be surprised if these are the real songs. As crappy as AI is, this is just too crappy. Almost as if AI let VFTW pick all the songs, and they're intentionally sabotaging it. Especially #15. I guess we'll see in a few hours though.

Ha! I told you Luke's really a woman!

I'm also correct that <s>Adam</s> David Archuleta was built in the American Idol secret labs. His most embarrassing moment was a fund raiser in Honduras? Let me guess -- his biggest weakness is too many strengths? I bet he travels to the future and writes songs for Wyld Stallyns to bring about world peace and the key to ultimate truth. Man, it's going to hurt when the backlash hits.

Danny's most embarrassing moment is that outfit, that hair, those shoes, and let's just say that entire performance. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it -- why is he wasting that voice on karaoke performances like this? And what's with all the freakin' wool scarves this season? They're in California (and indoors).

I bet David Hernandez would like to amend his most embarrassing moment too. Still, I think he's got a great voice, and I'll back anyone who performs Steinman.

Michael wants to show the world what kind of "oddist" he'll be? At least his story didn't sound contrived. Not too bad an interpretation of "Simple Minds", either (no, Randy, it's not an INXS song -ohbfrank-). Simon's right, though. Lots of talent, but he hasn't found the right song yet.
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/3689/2817thebreakfastclub11do1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

God, that hair is ridiculous. Cook wants to convince us he's some rock star, and he covers Lionel Richie? No, it is not you I'm looking for, but it wasn't too shabby. And of course it would be a hit today. All they play on the radio is whiny emo crap. I never considered "Hello" to be whiny emo crap, but there's a first time for everything.

Just as I'm about to berate Castro for ruining my prediction by picking such an amazing song, whoops! Where'd the vocals go?

I really like Chikezie. He brings a level of genuine emotion and performance that this show desperately needs from the dudes. I hope he sticks around. So, I guess that means he's gone.

Luke Menard - He picked a good song choice for his vocal range, but he didn't quite sell it while he was singing the song, he didn't go far enough to build up the energy inherent in that song. He also missed on a low note towards the very end of the song, like he ran out of gas.

David Archuleta - he provided some silky smooth notes throughout the song, but he got a little too loud when he transistioned away from the piano to the stage, and sometimes it looks like his tongue gets in the way of his singing, that makes it a little distracting when watching him sing.

Danny Noriega - I thought he sang the song in too low of a key, and it made the song sound too subdued, but what he lacked in vocal finesse, he made up for in the performance in terms of stage presense. He at least looks like he's trying to give a vocal performance with a little zest during the song.

David Hernandez - Taking on a Celine Dion song by a male is always risky, but he did okay, but he started singing from the back of his throat through the tail end of the song, so it sounded odd as he went for the big finish. Overall, a consistent effort that didn't leave him embarrassed for tackling that song.

Michael Johns - I thought he needed to find a jacket that actually fit him because it was distracting to watch him keep tugging the jacket toward the middle. I didn't like how his voice lost the melody that the end when he started screaming the lyrics. It was an average performance that just didn't connect with me.

David Cook - I wasn't digging it until the chorus kicked in because it sounded really thin (the guitar, mainly), but then the chorus swelled and totally settled in a groove for the rest of the song, and it was a nice change of pace considering the "pop" pedigree of the song, he made the song relevant again today. Nice job!

Jason Castro - I thought his performance was a little on the labored side. To me, his vocal range sounded even smaller with this song, so I can't really say it was a song that makes a statement for Jason to stay. I'm definitely contrary to what any of the judges said about Jason's performance.

Chikeze - He started out well, but he got a little loose with the middle of the song, and then the transistion from the falsetto to the last note was just a little awkward.

Rankings

Worth listening to again and again:
David Cook

Worth listening to again:
David Hernandez
David Archuleta

Once was enough:
Michael Johns
Jason Castro
Chikeze

Put them out of their misery, please:

Man, Randy was so lame confusing Simple Minds with INXS. When Michael Johns was performing, I was actually thinking I would like him to perform an INXS song, so when Randy started talking about Aussies bringing it home and Michael Hutchence, I was like WTF. I noticed his friends/families shared WTF looks also.

I like David Cook's take on Hello, although I could do without his sneer face. I kept thinking it would have been funny if they would have cut to Randy modeling a big head of clay.

All I know is when David Cook started singing the rock version of Hello my mouth was agape. Just the idea of taking that kind of risk made me appreciate him.

Archuleta shouldn't have started out on the piano. I think it distracted him, and I didn't like his pandering for votes at the end either.

On the opposite end of doing something new and fresh was Luke's stuck in the 80s Wham performance. If you're going to sing George Michael there are other songs to sing. There are even other upbeat songs to sing; he picked such a dated song.

Since Randy keeps comparing Michael to Michael Hutchence I wonder when he will break out the INXS.

It's time for Danny to go away.

Thank god those spoilers were wrong. But I figured they had to be. I mean, who in their right mind would sing stuff like "Celebration", "We Built This City", and "Tainted Love" ... er ... scratch that last one :)

-Luke's gotta be a goner. It wasn't bad, but it was just a weaker carbon copy of the original.

-Simon's not doing his boy David any favors by telling everyone he'll sail into the Finals. That makes people not vote because they think he's safe. It won't hurt him for a while, but it could at some point. Not that I care, because I've had my fill of this gaspy voiced, world-peace loving, "aw shucks" muppet. Jeez, this guy's going to make the most depressing AI CD in history. He just has to fit it into his schedule between ending world hunger and curing cancer.

-Yay, I knew Danny would come through with the suckage! TMTH indeed. Is there anything more annoying than people who speak in text message abbreviations? Well, I'm sure there is, but it's pretty annoying. Once someone said to me "l o l" after a joke, and I just couldn't control myself and smacked them in the head.

-I was actually surprised in digging David Cook's arrangement too.

-I like how Ryan invited us to "mellow out" with Jason Castro. If only my doobie stash was as premium as Jason's.

-I didn't really care for Chikezie this weak. Vocals were a bit off, and the song didn't seem to flow very well.

Luke is a sure-fire goner this week. The second one ... I'll say Chikezie (but David H and Danny could be vulnerable too).

Luke- just fucking putrid. He needs to go, stat.

David H. - not bad, but a bit boring to me.

Archuleta-Bot- good but his little act is really starting to grate.

David C.- my fave of the night. Love the re-arrangement and his vocals were good.

Jason- 2nd fave of the night. Nothing terribly special, but nice. He needs to get more diverse in his song choices, though, and quick.

Danny- not nearly as bad as people are saying. His diva bit drives me batshit crazy, though.

Michael- not bad, but not too good, either. It was just a'ight for me, dawg.

Chikezie- boring, but his vocals were pretty good. I just hated the song choice.

My question is who'll take on "Call Me"? That could be very good... or very bad.

I liked all the singers tonight, but my vote is still that Luke will be gone and Hernandez will be gone, either by vote or by disqualification.

For what it's worth I dropped 10 votes for both Michael Johns and David Cook, and 20 votes for Jason Castro.

Some poor song choices tonight.

Luke needs to go home just for picking that song.

I'm disappointed Danny chose "Tainted Love". It's a great song, but not the kind that showcases your vocal ability. When is he going to pick a song that REALLY shows off that voice like in the auditions?!?!?!?

David Cook actually made that work -- good for him.

I'm sure it's a habit, but David A. really needs to stop licking his lips every other line -- very distracting and annoying.

I'm hoping for Luke and Chikezie to go home.

Just listened to Jason Castro again. First off that song is amazing. First heard it on House, I think, and downloaded it immediately. For him to come out without his guitar and sing a song like that really took guts. I dont think he is a seasoned performer, so I feel we are really seeing him grow. Second, except for one note at the end, I think he really nailed it. And he really connected to me. I think he made himself very safe without that one.

Paula wasnt drunk. She is just plain stupid. It irks me that woman is making so much damn money and she cant even complete an intellegent sentence. I'm loving Simon this season, that man is right on.

I dug the guys tonight and I am glad the idiot who posted those spoilers were wrong...um...wait...anyway...

I dont get the hate for David the Stripper. He nailed a song made famous by Celine.

Archuleta was good, not great, and Simon had it right when he said he needs to change his schtick.

When David C started on Hello I was like, WTF??? But I really loved it. He took a very dated cheesy 80s track and made it current. Definitely could be released as a single.

Jason Castro may have been my favorite tonight. Sure, it is a very slow song but the judges always say you need to connect with the audience and he definitely did with that song. Even my buddy who hates Idol but gets dragged to my house by his SO on Tuesdays said it was awesome. And his SO who thinks Jason is creepy was actually teary eyed.

Tainted Love - eh

Chickeze - solid but nothing that makes you want to pick up the phone and vote for him.

Noriega - Wasted night for him. A hip version of that song but too hip to show the audience his voice. He will be gone tonight and the judges will blame it on song choice. His voice and persona just dont match up to me.

Luke - the force is weak with you, good bye.

Luke and Danny should go this week.

Luke has zero vocal range and sounds horrible as a solo singer. He needs to go back to his barber shop quartet.

Danny is an annoyingly flamboyant smug diva-wannabe. Please go away. Any vocal talent he may have is completely overshadowed by his "diva-ttitude".

David Cook's rocking version of "Hello" was terrific and song of the night IMO. Seriously, I think it should be recorded and released as a single. Castro's version of "Hallelujah" was #2 although he stumbled a bit at the end. And I had no idea that Leonard Cohen wrote "Hallelujah"; I had always associated it with Jeff Buckley.

David Archuleta is pathetic. He butchered "Imagine" last week and he butchered "Another Day in Paradise" last night. His arrangements are TERRIBLE. He tries to change things up to make them sound different but his complete lack of a sense of pacing/timing ruins everything he touches. I know he's got all the girls voting for him but please ladies don't listen to Simon and vote this guy into the final two. Please.

I agree with everyone that Luke is gone. I hope Danny sticks around just because he is entertaining, it's just fun to laugh at him. I hope Michael Johns sticks around for another week just to do a INXS song and tell Randy that Simple Minds did it.

And I have a suggestion for the thread. Can somebody post a list of what song each person performed? maybe if you are doing a write up of every performer, just throw that info in the mix. Thanks.

Asia'h's crazy. First a song made popular by Celine, and now Whitney? I like the girl. I think she's ridiculously adorable. But I don't know about that performance. And I'm definitely not sure about putting her pimp in the audience.

Kady :fc: Whoa. My favorite Queen song (yeah, I'm a loser). Sadly, she shouted it. People should really stop performing Freddie.

Amanda sure stares at the floor a lot. Perfect song choice for her, but who really cares about a song like that?

Be honest, Carly. Your most embarrassing moment is that ridiculous arm tat. It looks even more ridiculous when you're sporting fancy hair and make-up. Singing a song so recently made popular by Celine and straining to hit notes that weren't anywhere near as high as the Canadian Crippler? No. I'm not buying it, dawg.

Didn't we establish quite clearly that Kristy Lee is best singing country songs? What's more country than Journey? Just because she sang it doesn't make it country, Randy. She performed it like a pop song.

Ramiele recovers from that awful outfit from last week and even shows some leg. What a great voice. I don't understand why they keep raving about Carly when Ramiele has every bit as much power and far more control.

Holy crap, Brooke. Had I seen "Love is a Battlefield" listed for her on a spoiler site, I would have posted it here immediately so we could all laugh at the absurdity. But I kinda loved it. Loved it.

Take notes, Kady. Syesha is what Simon means about personality when you sing. More Whitney, though? These people never learn. That said, she did a pretty good job with it.

Asia'h Epperson - I thought she provided a safe performance of a Whitney song (at least she can move better than Whitney on stage), and she ran out of gas for the big note at the end, but it was simply pleasant, but nothing all that special or original or memorable to her performance.

Kady Malloy - Not the best song choice, plus it took forever (literally) to get going, but she did get most of the big notes right (though they aren't her forte), but it left me uninspired, overall. Wasted potential on display once again, unfortunately.

Amanda Overmeyer - I'd give her the title of "Karoake Idol", and I feel she's authentically unauthentic. She sings behind the band at times, still can't carry the melody for most of the songs she sings. She'll probably go through to the final 12 but I am tired of her schtick already.

Carly Smithson - I had no idea what song she was singing until she got to the chorus, but she ran the gamut of her vocal range with it, and for the most part, it was a good display of her vocal promise, but her mic technique cheated out of her first long note. I wish she'd not go for the big notes when she is always bordering on screaming them, it's not necessary because her voice has plenty of melody and power to it, a nice combo to have.

Kristy Lee Cook - Not great on the big notes, bad mic technique (turning away in the middle of her second last note, WTH?). I think she over-shot her vocal talent with this song choice because it does demand a strong voice to make its angst work for it. On the plus side, her singing stance was much more solid and not as distracting with the fighting stance she usually undertakes while singing.

Ramiele Mulabay - She's got great pipes (and control), but she needs acting lessons (or life lessons) because she is still so far away from what she's singing about. She's like a singing robot who can really sing well but the emotional disconnect in her singing is her biggest liability.

Brooke White - She took a chance with going with just an acoustic guitar and showcased her vocals. What I liked is that she is like the antithesis of Ramiele in terms of projecting a sense of hurt when it comes to love and how it's a battlefield in the song, that's the interpretive insight that Ramiele lacks, but Brooke has and uses to great effect. It was a very solid effort, and it separates her from the pack.

Syesha Mercado - Took on a Whitney song, and was more than up to the task because her voice has melody and power to spare (probably more than even Carly at times). What she lacks is a personal style that makes her instantly recognizable when you hear her voice, and that's her main obstacle in finding commercial success in the music industry.

Well, I'll give Amanda this...it was her best performance to date. I even think the first third wasn't too bad, but then she got all out of breath and started dropping notes. Of course, it was "one of the best performances of the year" so what do I know.

I didn't get Asia'h at all. It seemed like a really poor facsimile of Whitney. She should have even tried that b/c it failed and was forgetable (at least for me).

I liked Kristy's version of Faithfully for a while, but she couldn't power through the end and the song blew her away.

I also like Ramiele, but she deserves to be voted off just for singing Against All Odds. The song should be retired for all future Idol contestants.

Syesha's performance didn't do anything for me either. I thought she shouted most of the song.

I think Kady's gone for sure (unfortunately...I think she has talent and unlike Simon I think she has personality (especially in her interviews). For what ever reason she's not one of his favorites so he hasn't propped her up like he has others through the years...after last week's debacle she was definitely not in the bottom 2 in performances this week), and I think Asia'h is gone.

Paula has the least to say and talks the most. Sounds about right to me. I forwarded through her most of the night.

Asia'h needed some Spanx badly. That was a very unflattering outfit. The term "sausage casing" comes to mind. The singing was just ok, but that is one of the worst Whitney songs. Didn't she learn from Alaina last week not to sing while coming down the stairs?

Kady - zzzzzzzzz. I thought she was Alaina, but then I remmebered she was voted off last week.

Amanda Overmeyer - I still don't get her look to the ground form of stage presence. She looks like she is reading the lyrics from the monitor and never connects to the audience

Carly looks like Chelsea Clinton with black hair. Her mother is very pretty- looks like Kate Pierson from the B-52's. Horrible song choice. She could have done something much better than a Celine cover of a Cyndi Lauper song. I would have rather seen her do Lauper's "Time After Time".

Kristy Lee Cook - I would have never thought I would ever long for the vocal stylings of Steve Perry, but there's a first time for everything.

Ramiele - Didn't just bore us with a Phil Collins song, but a bad Phil Collins song

Brooke's take on Love Is a Battlefield was good, but I would have rather seen her do Edie Brickell's "What I Am".

Syesha - surprisingly good and that is actually a Whitney song that doesn't make me want to slit my wrists. It hasn't been covered to death either. She would have gotten even more points from me for doing "All at Once", my favorite Whitney song which is never covered on this show.

I love how Paula usually manages to show a lot more skin when the boys are performing.

-Simon was 100% right on Asia'h. If you cover a Whitney song, you have to do it somewhat differently. Because otherwise you just suffer by comparison.

-Amanda actually picked a perfect song. Don't worry haters. I'm sure it'll only take one or two more weeks at the most for her to pick something disastrous and have everyone hating her again.

-I wasn't digging the country Journey, though I give her props for not doing what Asia'h did. And how predictable was Randy's "Hey! Don't forget I worked with them!" comment

-Randy still doesn't know Rumiele's name :)

-I liked Brooke's sensitive hippy take on Pat Benetar. Too bad Randy was so hung up on more name dropping during the review.

-Ugh ... how predictable. Another diva does Whitney. At least it had a little more life than Asia'h. I'm guessing the show ran out of time, and the producers told the judges they only had 10 seconds. I guess that can cut both ways.

My picks to go home are Kady and Asia'h.

I think Amanda must be reading all the bad DUI press (and performance reviews) or something because last night she seemed to be completely disinterested in the whole thing. Kept looking away, down, around etc. Seemed to be "ho-hum" about not only the performance, but the judges praise for her. I think she has written this thing off in her mind. I think that "body language" girl from The O'Reilly Factor would back me up on that.

Country girl will remain and do a few more songs with a country twist, then the judges will start saying things like "you need to break out of your comfort zone" and using the "one trick pony" lines, when they are the ones who got her into this. Happens every season to the "country" and "rocker" types.

Completely understand what Simon was saying about the "Brittany Spears" wannabe (Kady) in that she has great personality but it has yet to show in her songs. I do want her to do well, but she keeps disappointing me with song choices.

Brooke is tops for me for her seemingly genuine appeal. I also like Syesha, but we've seen that type of singer every year and they do well, but just don't ever seem to make it to the end. She was stylin her legs last night looking for the dude vote.

I don't think she's wanted to be there the entire time. I'm pretty sure she finds this whole thing cheesy and is selling out. I've expected her to quit at any moment. On another note, she scares me.

I liked Amanda early in this competition, but the magic is gone for me. I think she stinks and will last as long as she keeps making great song choices for her pseudo rock voice like last night. Nikki Mcgibben anyone?

Ramiel, Syesha, Carlie and Brooke are all pretty good.

I am surprised I like Brooke as much as I do.. I thought I would hate her, but she is growiing on me.

Asia'h, unfortunately, looks like she might be in trouble and Kady can pack her bags.

I've defended Kady, especially for just getting shit on during '60's night to a degree I thought was pretty unfair given the vocals. The personality knock is getting a little silly. However, when her back's against the wall, she blows it. So good voice hidden in there or not, she's gotta be going home.

I just hope that Amanda getting praise for graveling out a 4 or 5 note song doesn't save her this week. The novelty there is over. If any of the other girls with actual quality voices picked "the right song" that happened to have a zero degree of difficulty, they'd have been torn to shreds.

Luke will hopefully pack up his tampons and go this week. I can't even guess who the second guy to go will be, because I can imagine at least 4 of the going.

Brooke White for me is easily the cream of the crop of these girls. Her rendition of Love is a Battlefield was very good and I loved that she took a chance and made the song her own and more contemporary, especially with the acoustic guitar.

If Carly didn't have the Tats on her right arm, I would probably like her more. They are just an eye sore to look at.

I cannot stand people trying to cover Whitney and Celine, because for me it will always sound like 2nd rate Karaoke. Asiah'H and Syesha need to stay away from that, even vocally Syesha sounded good.

I think I'm the only one not enjoying the Carly love-fest. I don't like her. She butchered that song last night - she had to break a note into 2 separate notes and it was completely horrible to listen to. And those overly-pruned eyebrows and tat is WAY distracting for me. Don't like her. There are at least 3 other girls that have a better voice than her, but the judges keep drooling over Carly, so she'll probably stay for awhile.

Asia'h wasn't a surprise, but I'll say this about the beleaguered Amanda. People can vote for whomever they want, but it does irritate me that someone who obviously does not want to be there is in the top twelve. That's taking away someone else's dream, and I think both Asia'h and Kady are better than her anyway. It's disappointing. If she doesn't want to be there then she should drop out.

No real losses on the guys side though it did make it a tough night for Ramiele losing her two best friends (Kady and Danny). Though she should have been prepared for both.

Wow. MSNBC has a poll asking “Who is your favorite of the final 12 on "American Idol"?”. After about 18,500 votes, here are the results:

David Archuleta, 40%
David Cook, 9.2%
Jason Castro, 9.0%
Michael Johns, 8.7%
Brooke White, 8.2%
Carly Smithson, 7.3%

What will be interesting, though, is when contestants are getting booted off, in whose direction do their fanbase's votes go towards. I would think as more girls leave in the first 4 weeks of the top 12, I would think Brooke and Carly will get those votes, moreso than the guys (David C., Michael, and Jason), which could push them past the guys in the late rounds for a second place finish against Archuleta.

Danny is a perfect draw for the preteen girls. He's cute, he's "safe", and he will listen to them (unlike their goofy real-life boyfriends). How could life get any better for them?

Someone queried why Simon seemed to have it in for Kady. Perhaps she rejected his offer to come by his suite for some late-night coaching and inspection of her "lung capacity".

Although I couldn't stand Luke's singing (and song choice...what more dated material could you pick than Wham! Perfect choice for an 'oldies' revue, which is Luke's forte), I did like his good-natured acceptance of his fate. Maybe he realized that he was in over his head or maybe he's just a good guy, but he seemed genuinely just "glad to be here" and didn't appear to be crushed or have hard feelings. Judging from Thurs. night alone, he has a good attitude about the whole thing.

Regarding Amanda's dispirited demeanor, it is puzzling...almost as if her disastrous performance last week & all the public criticism has broken her spirit & she just wants to tank it, strap on her Harley & doo-rag, and pull a Then Came Bronson. Hope that her DUI offense was just a result of too much partying one night; otherwise, someone needs to be looking out for her. She seems almost depressed after her performances (although, having to tape those "solo dancing" segments could depress anyone over 12).

We like trying to see which contestants are liked by the others (judging from their reactions when they don't know the camera is on them...although a smart contestant would know that they're potentially "on" any time they're out there). Seemed that the guys didn't have a lot of love for Michael Johns when he joined the Stool Crowd (and he didn't even look back at Danny & Chikeze when he got the good news and left them). Sometimes it seems that the other guys kind of shun Little David (although it has sometimes come after the judges have slobbered over him).

Seems that Carly has tried to take a Big Sister approach to the younger contestants (she even hugged Amanda when the latter dejectedly joined the other "winners"). Whether it's real or feigned, it will get some votes.

Are there any good AI exposes that reveal the dirt behind the smiles?

Is next week supposed to be the 90s? What about after that?

No, next week is the songs of Lennon/McCartney, followed by "theme" nights, probably with the mentors.

Anyone heard these Kady Malloy tracks on a myspace fan page:

http://www.myspace.com/kadymalloyfans

I find her singing listenable for the pop/easy listening genre, and none feature any vocal pyrotechnics that would dampen her overall performance of the songs.

What I am hating about AI for female contestants is that they all seem to think they need to showcase that big-time diva voice (a la Celine, Whitney, Mariah, etc), but if they could just convince the girls that the world wouldn't end if they didn't have the pipes for the songs that need the huge vocals, and just let them feel comfortable singing to their own strengths, we'd get better performances out of them. At least Brooke White understands her limitations and finds songs that fit her vocal range and stylings.

Listening the cuts by Kady reinforces my hope that the gals step back and find the smaller, more "safe" song (Simon be damned) that allow them to connect with the song on a more emotional level without fearing that the added anxiety that they won't be able to pull off the huge long notes, which affects the rest of their performance.

From that interview (and her parting comments), it's obvious she didn't get it. Everything Simon said about her was not only completely accurate but the primary reason she didn't advance in the show. His opinion is more important, simply because he's the only person on that show actually telling people what they did wrong and how to get better. Sure, he's a dick about it, but he's spot on nearly every time. It's the contestants who listen to Simon and make small adjustments to their performance while retaining their own personality who go far.

And Simon's right there with you, Patman. Almost every time someone tries to go all super-diva on the stage, he tears them apart. The easiest way to earn his scorn is to perform a Celine or Whitney song without drastically changing the arrangement. In fact, he's proven very forgiving of vocal imperfections if the performance was believable emotionally (probably because he knows he can fix the notes in the studio, but not the personality).

I think it's just youth. Most of these girls are at the age where they think they know everything and probably grew up watching American Idol and perceiving Simon as the asshole instead of the only one on that show with a clue. They're more likely to gravitate to the sycophantic praise of Paula than the harsh honesty of Simon. And maybe that's a good thing to weed those people out. The winner of this competition will face a lot more Simons than Paulas (until s/he goes to rehab).

Words can't even describe how much i loathe Chikezie, I hope he's sent packing next week. I was really cheering for Danny, who was a MUCH better vocalist.

I wonder if there's any hope of a wildcard show this season? That would be awesome! I wish they'd bring back Josiah Lemming.
