Chuck Palahniuk's Choke (2008, D: Clark Gregg) S: Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Huston

I was rewatching Fight club, which led me to wiki Chuck Palahniuk, until I came across this surprising article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choke_(film)

Apparently, Choke is being released as a movie?! How did I not know this?

It was shown at Sundance where it was subsequently picked up. Stars Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston.

Choke as a movie? THis should be, uh, interesting?

EDIT: Actually, I was thinking of Rant. Choke actually should be pretty good as a movie. I'll be interested in seeing it.

I thought by the thread title this was an early April fools joke.

The book was pretty good, I've been meaning to read it again. I forget how it ends. I just remember there seemed to be a whole bunch of stuff happening all of sudden over the last part of the book.

Every time I read a Palahniuk book I think whether or not it can be made into a movie (since Fight Club was so good - both movie and book).

If they stick to the book, the climax should be interesting... and disgusting. (I bet they'll probably "drop" the bowel movement stuff, though.)

I've checked the casting for Choke. It's a joke. I don't think any new Chuck Palahniuk movie will ever beat the casting that was Fight Club. It couldn't have been more perfect

^ummmm.....ok.
Still, for a low budget adaptation they have Sam Rockwell, the Beautiful Kelly McDonald, and Angelica Huston...I think they managed to do pretty darn well.

I read Choke and I don't know how they can release it with anything less than an NC-17.

I'm sure the sex scenes are not gong to be as graphic in the film version. Not the first time sex scenes are not quite filmed the way they are described in the book.
I doubt this will harm the film in the least.

However I dont know how they will be able to adapt Chuck's next novel (reportedly about the largest porno gangbang ever or something) to even make it an NC-17.

Devin Faraci at Chud.com gave it a pretty good review. Glad to hear it's coming out soon and not one that's going to be sat on for months.

Considering it's about a sex addict, I'm hoping for at least a few sex scenes.

Spoiler:
Though the one sex addict he screws in the beginning with the smoker who coughs so much she has abs and the nicotine sweat... Egh... I'd be better off without that one.

Fight Club's casting is great, sure... but i think youre jumping the gun saying that Choke's casting is horrible.

You arent one of those "Norton should be casted in every Palahniuk movie adaptation" guys are ya?

I saw this news a while back on The Cult (Chuck' page) - very awesome news. Rant I think would make for a decent movie as well...and they still need to get Invisible Monsters made - with Parker Posey as the lead

As of right now.... Invisible Monsters, Lullaby, Diary and of course Survivor are all being worked on and are all at different stages of the movie making process.

I know that the Director of "I Am Legend" is working on Survivor basically as I type this. Monsters has of course been in development for a great while as well.

As for Diary and Lullaby, i know that the rights have been purchased for both of them. I have the names somewhere, ill post when i get them.

I'll definitely go see it, but I'm worried about it. I can't see them being very true to the book. From the look of some of the clips, it looks kinda sitcomish... There SEEMS to be little to no edge to it.
