Headed to Vegas during the last weekend in April for a Friday-Monday stay (though I leave early on Monday). Staying at the MGM Grand and am there for a friend's bachelor party.
I perused the long sticky thread, but was a bit overwhelmed with info. What things should I plan on trying to see/do while I am there (aside from the BP related events). I am not a big gambler, though I can and do play BJ (well)and poker (ok-good).
Any recommendations are appreciated.

I never really caught on to the thrill in slots. I think I prefer games that require some skill which can affect the house odds.

Oh, I totally agree with you, Slots are the easy way to loose money. I prefer blackjack/Roulette and my newest is Baccarat

how old are you?
what type of nightlife do you like?
do you like strip clubs?
do you like to eat at good restaurants?
what type of music do you like?
do you like shows?

Now that you know blackjack, learn craps as soon as you get there. I learned at O'Shea's and I highly recommend it for newbies. They are very friendly and patient with people who haven't played before.
I wish someone had told this to me several years ago.

I like the guy saying that slots are the easiest way to lose money and then in the same post, praises roulette.
Anyway, we can't really help you with your question until you discuss what sort of time you're looking to have in Vegas. Are you a nightclub guy? A great food guy? Love shows? Shit like that.

If are not a big gambler but like to drink a lot, I suggest Pai Gow Poker.
I just booked my next trip to Vegas. Final Four weekend. I missed my usual Fall trip last year so I haven't been there since last spring. I'm so stoked.

 that is when I will be there for 2 days and then at Lake LV for another 2. Actually not sure which is first. Let's see how much/long the cab ride is ;)

Vegas is swamped during MM, but it is fun. Finding a decent place to watch the games might be tough though.

Yeah - I've been there during the first weekend of MM. Probably won't do that again.

I'll be there that weekend for my brother's bachelor party. Maybe we should try to meet up. I'd buy you a beer.

Oh so true (or passage mall or fashon mall)! I know better now. During the day I am either at the table or at the pool drinking and she goes on her merry credit card, soon to be maxed, way.
