I tend to latch on to my favorites like a lamprey. I love DEVO, Gary Neuman, Jim White, Bauhaus, Siousxie et al...
BUT! I cannot get over this cello band. I spent 40 bucks to get their OOP album "How We Quit The Forest" on E-bay. OOp because their label at the time pulled the deal.
I can't stop listening to it! I fucking love this band and hear nothing from anybody about it. It's like I'm the only one that gets the kick from their sound.
When I saw them live it was one of the tightest live performances I've ever seen and there was a fair crowd.
I guess I am technically a FANatic.
The Old Headboard
Barracuda (Heart cover)- live
This one sounds like it was recorded by the handheld cam:
Saline The Salt Lake Queen -live

I've seen them live when they opened for Belle and Sebastian. They were OK, but I don't really dig their gimmick.

been a long time casual fan here. i really got into them as a product of being a fan of marilyn manson in the late 90's. they toured together and did some remixing. i can't imagine being too entertained at a concert, but i really enjoy their covers EP and "howe we quit the forest" which i didn't even know was OOP until now. i paid $7.00 for that as a "super saver" cd in like '98!

I've only heard that song "Transylvanian Concubine" that Manson did with them and I liked it. Never heard much else, but I would like to hear some more since I liked that one song.

I've loved "How We Quit the Forest" since I first got it many years ago. I'm always shocked when I see the OOP prices for it nowadays. It was the first CD of theirs I got and nothing else by them has come close to that one- though I did find their most recent album enjoyable.

Kudama, I would have gladly given you a promo copy of How We Quit The Forest if I'd known you were into them. Further evidence that you rock, as if I needed any more.
If you'll allow me to indulge in a RIYL, you might want to also check out Alva - you can get both their albums, The Fair-Haired Guillotine and Slattery For Ungdom, for dirt cheap from Amazon sellers - and maybe Rita Ackermann's band Angelblood (although their last was more man-metal oriented).
