How often do you buy used DVDs/How many do you have?
After buying yet another small batch of used DVDs at one of the local video rental places, I wondered how many others here also do this, and what percentage of your collection is previously-viewed discs?
I like to buy new when I can, but if I happen to spot a movie that I didn't want to necessarily pay full price for upon its initial release, I have no problem picking it up used. I was actually kind of surprised when I got to looking through my collection and realizing just how many used ones I have.
So, what's everyone's percentage of previously-viewed movies from your collections?

At least half of my collection of a 1000 or so titles is used. If I really like a movie/TV series, I'll buy it new, but there's a lot of stuff I can wait to turn up in the previously viewed section of the rental shop, or from other second-hand sellers. Like The Kingdom, or RE3 or Shoot Em Up. I enjoyed those movies, but not enough to rush out and pay full price; I can wait a few weeks or months for cheap copies to surface.
If the packaging and the disc/s are in good shape, I figure why not save a couple of bucks and use that for the next double dip/shiny boxset/limited edition/overpriced collectors gift set?

Occasionally I'll buy used DVDs @ Blockbuster when they are having one of their sales or there are enough titles of interest to meet the min. number. I'm trying to hold off on some things now though so I can pick them up at Columbia House. Very rarely I'll buy used from Amazon, and only then when it's something I really want, is hard to find and if they have it for a good price.

Well, about a third of my collection comes from trades so I do consider them used. In terms of buying used, I maybe have 10 or less. Generally the price difference isn't enough to stop me from buying new.

75% are used. I mainly collect wrestling DVDs and TV on DVD and most of the times I can find the used version for 30%-60% (and even up to 90-95%) off the new price. I only buy new when it's cheap to do so.
I rarely have problems with the condition of the disc as I usually get the preowned stuff at Gamestop (90%), Amazon (5%) or Blockbuster (5%)

There's a pawn shop close to my house and I stop there about once a week. They sell all their DVDs for 5 or 6 for $20. 3 days ago I ended up getting the first 3 Harry Potters, Bourne Identity, Supremacy, and 300 SE for $20. All were in perfect condition.
I also hit Blockbuster about once a month. I've never had a problem with used DVDs.

I'd say, off the top of my head, about 1 in 12 is a "previously viewed" DVD. Usually if it's something OOP that I've been looking for, or something I don't want to pay retail price for.

I worked at Hollywood Video this summer and bought a bunch, but I would always grab 10 or 15 copies and look through them for one that looked brand new on the bottom, and almost always found one. Then I'd pick out a good insert, and put all this stuff in a brand new case from the back (which I probably shouldn't have done) and it looked like a brand new DVD by the time I was done with it.

Mine? Tons, 'cause there's a mom&pop store near me that does brisk business but not with the artier films that I like So I buy used from them, sometimes for as little as $1, and the discs are pristine. They know me there at this point so if there's any problems I can swap 'em out - and I've never had to. That's just good sense.

Brought a few used from blockbuster with a gc a few years ago it was $5 per movie. But these days why buy used unless OOP? BB and CC usually have $3.99 and $4.99 sales all the time and even had a $2.99 on black friday. I brought some $6.99 movies this week but they came with movie money so it evens out. When I went to a Hollywood Video that was closing I only find a couple dvds and brought more video games because I figure I can wait for the movie to be $4 and get a new sealed copy. I have about 5 used out of 575 which is 0.87%.
