'TRUTH,' 'WOMEN RULE' FOX'S SUMMER PLANS

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has confirmed its summer plans, which will once again include new seasons of "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Hell's Kitchen."
Joining them this time around: newcomer "When Women Rule the World" as well as fresh installments of "The Moment of Truth."
Things kick off on Thursday, May 22 with the two-hour season premiere of "So You Think You Can Dance." Two-hour editions of the series will run on Wednesdays and Thursdays through June 5. Then on June 12, "The Moment of Truth" will fill the 8:00/7:00c hour on Thursdays followed by "Dance's" one-hour results shows at 9:00/8:00c.
Next up is the two-hour premiere of "When Women Rule the World" on Monday, May 26. Subsequent weeks will feature "Rule" at 8:00/7:00c and repeats of "Bones" at 9:00/8:00c.
Tuesdays will showcase repeats of "House" at 8:00/7:00c with the new season of "Hell's Kitchen," which bows April 1 as previously announced, continuing at 9:00/8:00c.
Rounding out the network's summer slate will be movies on Friday nights, mainstays "Cops" and "America's Most Wanted" on Saturdays and repeats of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" and its animated quartet on Sundays.

What dreck. FOX once proclaimed they wanted three TV seasons of new programming a year. This slate hardly qualifies as a season of new programming. Not that anyone outside of TNT and maybe FX has decent new programming, but FOX would have been better off repeating Prison Break and Terminator so that people could catch up for next season...

Not sure why anyone is surprised at the lack of new scripted shows during the summer. Pretty much every new scripted show that the networks have tried to launch during recent summers has failed. And if you see new episodes of an existing show, it generally means that show is D.O.A. and they are burning off the remaining episodes.

To make room for said additions, newcomer "Canterbury's Law" will now premiere Monday, March 10 at 8:00/7:00c leading into the time period premiere of "New Amsterdam" at 9:00/8:00c. The former will wrap its run on April 7 while "Amsterdam" will close up shop on April 14.
Then on Monday, April 14 at 8:00/7:00c look for the first of six original episodes of "Bones." The series will then be joined by the first of four "House" originals at 9:00/8:00c starting April 28. Both series will conclude their seasons on May 19.
Meanwhile, "'Til Death" and "Back to You" will return with the first of five new episodes on Wednesday, April 16 at 8:00/7:00c and 8:30/7:30c, respectively. The pair will take over for "The Moment of Truth," which will wrap its spring run on April 2 before returning on Thursday, June 12.
