Suggest some acoustic guitar songs to play!
After a 5 year sabbatical from playing guitar I am trying to get back up to my old skill level. I took a few years of lessons but would not consider myself good. I can play chord-based songs pretty well, stuff like Smashing Pumpkins Disarm, Today, Tonight, Tonight, etc.
I am trying to focus more on my acoustic for the time being because I think electric makes my playing lazy.
Anyway, when I start looking for tablature I can never think of anything to play. I've been working on some Wilco songs and a couple Pearl Jam songs. I would like to find more songs that I can play and sing solo that will sound decent. I'm not looking to join a band, so I need some songs that I can play and sing by myself. Basically, if you're by yourself playing some acoustic, what are your "go-to" songs?
Thanks in advance.

I actually recreate rock songs on acoustic using open chords, capos, finger picking. Believe it or not, I did a solo open mic that consisted of two originals and a cover of Richard Marx's "Right Here Waiting" I had reworked. Lots of compliments!!

Perhaps Days of the New? Or if you prefer a bit more of a challenge, Dave Matthews Band is always fun to play.

"Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles. I taught myself to play that by ear when I was a kid, it doesn't get any simpler. I'd say anything you can play by ear and not have to get a tab for. It's actually better to make your own arrangement, especially if you're singing along to it.

Not saying these are my "go-to" songs or anything, but they're nice and easy to play:
James - "Laid"
The Church - "Under the Milky Way"
Oasis - "Wonderwall"
Neil Young - "Tell Me Why"
The Beatles - "Norwegian Wood"
The Replacements - "Here Comes a Regular"

Ray LaMontagne's cover of Crazy.
Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean
Ryan Star's cover of Head Like a Hole
Mat Weddle's cover of Hey Ya
I tried to focus on ones that feature only one guitar in the cover, but if you need more suggestions I can dig through my mp3 collection for more acoustic covers.
