The DVD Talk Review of The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling
I thought that this was one of the WWEs weaker titles concerning other wrestling alliances.Too much concentration on the Von Erichs and too little about Devastation Inc.As good as General Agbar and Gary Hart were with the mic-little was done besides the interviews for these particular dvds.(Thank God for WWE 24/7 -they show original interviews).WCCW was one of the worst of the worst as far as production values were concerned. Some of the finishes of the matches(especially Ric Flair vs Kerry Von Erich steel cage w/Michael Hayes) were poorly done with Hayes counting the three count for the pin when Von Erichs shoulder was clearly off the mat.Besides that it was alright.I would have prefered more on Gino Hernandez afterall I recall him in his younger years defeating Bulldog Don Kent for the NWA US Title (Detroit area tv).I also grew up watching Big Time Wrestling and I await for the day for the WWE acquires there video library(I believe Ron Martinez owns it) along with Bill Watts UWF library(his ex-wife owns it).

Its main purpose is to cover the Von Erichs' story, so that would explain the emphasis on them. And the remainder of the film is a good general intro to the WCCW, for those who may not know about it.

Why was there a delay in the release?Did the WWE feel that it wouldn't sell well?

Another thing that was funny about the match between Flair and Kerry Von Erich that made WCCW look very bush league was that it was no disqualifications even though both the reg. ref David Manning and special guest ref Michael Hayes were giving both wrestlers the 10 count inside the steel cage.LOL What up with that?

I enjoyed it, but I didn't grow up with the promotion. The Kevin Von Erich stuff was pretty bad though, it's amazing how many guys forget when they're working and when they're not, but I guess it's easy to get caught up.
