Owning bad sequels, but not the originals on DVD: Who owns Godfather 3, but 1 & 2?

Does any DVD collector in here own the well-known bad sequels on DVD, but not owning the original more-respected films on DVD? I can understand people collecting trilogies and such for completist sake, but has anyone sunk this low?

Here are some examples:

1. Owning Superman 3 and 4, but not the previous two
2. Owning Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, but not the previous two
3. Owning Godfather 3, but not the previous two
4. Owing Son of Mask, but not owning The Mask
5. Owning Blade 3, but not owning the previous two
6. Owning Grease 2, but not the first one
7. Owning those endless American Pie sequels, but not the first three
8. Owning those endless Bring It On sequels, but not the first one
9. Owning the Matrix sequels, but not the first one
10. Owning the Star Wars prequels, but not the original ones

I can't think of any in my DVD collection like that - I have Army of Darkness, but not Evil Dead 1 & 2, but I don't think this fits my criteria, all three films are considered respected...

^I'm guessing there aren't that many who do, but I bet there are a lot of people that own lesser remakes of better films. For example, owning American remakes of Japanese horror films like The Ring, The Grudge, Dark Water, etc, but not owning the original. Or owning Last Man Standing but not owning Yojimbo, or owing Point of No Return, but not La Femme Nikita.

This doesn't really count, but we have Batman & Robin here at work, but only because it came with a player that we purchased. It's so bad that no one wanted to take it home, even for free, so we use it to test DVD drives.

I own the Final Destination sequels, but not the original.

Some may disagree, but I feel that the original sucked and the sequels were of higher quality.

the originals of some of the series listed aren't much better than their bad sequels

I don't know if this counts, but I own Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky, but not the first three Child's Play films. I've never even seen any of them.

I have the first and third Superman movies, but not the second one. I fully intend on getting Superman II the next time I open a CH account.

And the only reason I got number three before two was because it was new for $6.

My roommate has Godfather 3 as his favorite film, but has never seen the first two.

I can't even imagine watching a sequel w/o seeing the original.

I'm guessing there are probably a lot of people who own the Child's Play/Chucky sequels but not the original, since the disc for that sucks.

i posted this before.

i own Turbulence 3 : Heavy Metal- and even went as far as to get the R4 version which is widescreen from australia.

and i haven't seen or have any desire to watch the original 2.

i saw part 3 on cinemax one day, and it has to be one of the few lost gems out there, it's so terrible it's great.

i own rambo 3 (but i have the 3pac, got it last week for 9.99)

i also own the batman boxset, but i really dont see the point in selling batman & robin for next to nothing.

lastly i own all 4 volumes of the bond series and again i dont see the point in selling a few shitty ones for next to nothing.

all of these i have no problem seeing in my collection, but i refuse to own godfather part 3. i own 1,2 seperatly. same with the rocky movies. i have all the good ones

I have Blade II, but not the original. I found the original to be boring and dull, where as the sequel just flat-out kicked ass.

So far, I think TREVOR's roommate is the only guilty one in here - Godfather 3 as favorite film and hasn't seen the previous two. Wow. I only brought up that sample because it was the craziest one that I could think of.

If a person owns a sequel and not the original, wouldn't that person think that the sequel is better than the original? That said, I don't own any sequel w/o the original, but my brother owns Superman 2 and not Superman.

I have to agree with Yazuka, I'd be willing to bet there are far greater owners of a lesser remake than the original....I have several friends who own Point of No Return, but not La Femme Nikita.

I don't own it yet, but I'm interested in owning 2 Fast 2 Furious, but not the original (which I haven't seen).

I have a few:

Hannibal, American Pie 2, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (I actually like this one better than EA), Saw 2, Terminator 3

I plan on buying the other ones eventually though.

I own Romero's Dawn of the Dead but not Night of the Living Dead, though I don't suppose it's a "bad" sequel.

I own Mission: Impossible 2 but not M:I 1 or 3.

The only Star Trek movie I own is First Contact. (I still haven't gotten around to seeing what many consider the best of the series, Part 2)
