a. I love "30 Rock" and
b. I didn't hate "Mean Girls".

I'm wary of Michael McCullers writing and directing... I think his influence brought the Austin Powers franchise down a few notches (although I did love Undercover Brother which he co-wrote)... I'm a fan of Fey and Pohler so I'm hoping it'll be good... it's similarities to 'The Brothers Solomon' (starring Amy's husband Will) are pretty striking though.

Well, the addition of Amy Poehler can only bring this to a level of quality reserved, typically, for the skin of crack addicts.
In other words, poor.
(Damn you Amy... Why must you take a mediocre-looking film, and turn it into an, um... really mediocre-looking movie?)

That looks pretty good, despite the presence of Dax Shepherd.

Funny but not hilarious and really goes from A to B with no surprises. The cast is great and does there best with the material but everything from the dialogue to the music just felt uninspired. The best bits are in the trailer, with the exception of a few funny lines with swearing... the Greg Kinnear stuff worked for me and I wish he had more to do, same with Steve Martin whose character gets a few moments but felt wasted overall. A decent matinee or TV movie...but this movie's got nothing on Forgetting Sarah Marshall... the kids will like this one, but if your old enough for R rated flicks and want a rom-com type flick, pick that one instead!

Amy Poehler and Romany Malco were the definite highlights of the movie, with everyone else just kinda blah... If it werent for those 2, I dont know if I would have laughed. That being said, they at least make it a decent weekend matinee flick.

Overall, the writing for "Baby Mama" just wasn't sharp or incisive enough, and the characters just aren't all that likable. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler just aren't quite able to sustain a cinematic spark between 2 unlikely people put together through surrogacy. The conclusion was telegraphed early, and never found its comic rhythm (because it couldn't decide what was the right tone for the film, and it really languished in the middle act, and limps to a finish).
This isn't to say there aren't some funny lines and moments, there are, but they were few and far between.
I must also add that that marketing totally downplayed the appearances of Steve Martin and Greg Kinnear, and I understood why after seeing the film.
I give it 2 stars, or a grade of C.

Amy Poehler doesn't get enough credit for her Upright Citizens Brigade stuff. She is consistantly funny there. People always think SNL - which has been entertaining, but not all that funny for a five or so years now.
Tina Fey has always been a standout SNL performer. And 30 Rock is a great show (one of the five or seven that I Tivo and watch every single week). And she's hot.
I might see it at the theater. If not, I'll probably just buy it on DVD.
