Use a browser with a pop up blocker and you will be able to use the cancel link. Otherwise, if you just write a message requesting cancellation in something like the Membership Obligation category, they will cancel for you.

Canceling by phone is painless, you don't have to talk to a person. 1-800-262-2001. I canceled an account last week.

Go to the "Contact Us" page on the site. From the drop down box, choose "Membership Obligation". Tell them that you have fulfilled your membership obligation and would now like to cancel your account. They should email you within 24 to 48 hours confirming that your account is now closed.

Can you switch email addresses and credit cards and such? Give the account to me, so I can get in on this damn deal they have going on, and I'll use all my info.

I think Kory was under the (mistaken?) assumption that "CH" = "ch.com."

How long does it take for Columbia House to COMPLETELY cancel your account? I cancelled one a bit ago, and I can still login to make payments. Eventhough I have a $0 balance. How long until I am allowed to re-sign? I probably won't for a while, but just curious.

^If you canceled by phone, the account is closed immediately. If you canceled by e-mail, the account should be closed if you got a response that says so.
If you have only one account, opening another shouldn't be a problem even if your first account isn't closed yet.
Can you do anything with your on-line account except access the payment screen? If not, then your account is really closed. But I am surprised they would keep the payment access open if your balance is $0.

The question is asked often enough.

Yep. I can still access it. I did it by phone. Looks cancelled though. I just don't want to open another and have them freak. For whatever reason, a rep called for me today at my parents house asking if I still lived there. My dad said no, and they hung up. I just never updated my billing address when I moved. I've never had them call before. Kinda worried me.
Anyway, It just says:
"This account has been closed. Your limited access to columbiahouse.com
allows you to make payments and manage credit card only.
Your Outstanding Balance Is: $0.00"

It's cancelled. It will say that forever-I've got a cancelled account from over a year ago that still says the exact same thing.
