SAG Awards (2008) ...anyone interested in talking about them?

I thought it was a pretty good show. Lots of stars out. Big gala to make up for "Golden Globes". Tom C., Angie & Brad, the Sopranos, nice little show. just wasn't sure why there was no Heath Ledger separate tribute from the other deaths. maybe they didn't want to show favoritism or something? the most moving piece was Daniel Day-Lewis' tribute in his acceptance speech. it was very well said.

anyway, loved that Tina Fey and Alec won for "30 Rock", but surprised it didn't win Best Ensemble. also, liked "The Sopranos" last swan song wins.

To answer your question - Not really.

Since I was amazed that no one started one, I came close to starting a thread but then I realized I didn't care enough. The show wasn't bad and seemed to be quick moving, but it was plain boring.

Though, it was sad to see Charles Durning in his current state and, while I can understand someone being a fan and appreciating his "art" (particularly since they never met), is Danny going to invoke Heath's name in every speech or interview he does? And why, pray tell, should there be a "separate tribute" for Ledger? His death is more important than the others "In Memoriam"? Bad enough they still have the audible "clap-o-meter" going during these things..

Oh, and it's a shame that Alec wasn't there, but I did like Tina's Fred Astaire/hat rack analogy.

I think the reason why Ledger was at the end of the tribute is because his death happened after they finished the montage, and they added it afterwards... I agree with you though that the show was pretty plain, and you could pretty much call every award. If you are older, you won. If you were 30-Rock or Sopranos, you won.

Oh no, i'm not questioning his placement during the "In Memoriam" segment, I understand that. It's not like the SAG is like the AP with their prerecorded obits . I'm talking about scott1598 wondering why there wasn't a "separate tribute" for Ledger.

i am not meaning to say he is any more important than anyone else who passed, but his death was very shocking and fresh and people are still sorting it out and kinda messed up by it, so i thought a separate, albeit little tribute would be in order to help reconcile some feelings. that's all. but, i completely understand the point that why would they separate the one over any of the rest.

Did anyone give the old, "THIS award means the most because it's from our peers!" routine?
