The last time they did this, back in October, I setup an order but due to various things never got around to sending it out. I went to look at selling the same ones, and every one I checked they give less money now. I can't say I'm really surprised, but I didn't expect every one to be less.

i just resubmitted my order and everything was exactly the same (about 30 dvds or so). i had assumed -some- would have decreased, but nope!
maybe i got it in before they drop those prices.

The site suggests using media mail to send the DVDs in. Is that what you guys use? Do you pay for a delivery receipt or insurance? What are we looking at cost-wise for mailing in a small box with half a dozen DVDs?

You guys are better off doing this in-store. You get a 45% bonus from Secondspin's prices instead.

I have never sold dvd's back to anywhere before. But this looks pretty interesting with so many duplicates I have now due to upgrades and what not.
Thanks guys!

Will this work at FYE?

It should, though my local store only gives credit and not cash.

You bet. You'll get 25% more if you take store credit over cash and they currently have a "brown bag" promotion where you'll get the extra 20%. Be aware that the prices that are quoted on the various websites(wherehouse.com, secondspin.com, etc) are usually a little higher than what you would get in-store. However, the extra 25% more than makes up for the difference.

Is secondspin reliable? All of my dvds are in good condition, will they pretty much accept all dvd's as long as its listed? Or will they only accept those that they are in need of? I've never sold dvds online, so are there any complications regarding secondspin that I should know of? Thanks everyone for any help.

I just submitted some stuff in an order I found out I didn't have still--is it possible to cancel it or do you just submit a new one and never send in the original?
Edit: Looks like they just cancel any unreceived order after 30 days. I'll just place a new one then.

I've only used them once, but they accepted everything I sent, which was many items. If they're not accepting a particular title, it will say so online.

You have to make a second order, but you can put both orders in the same box.

I had the same experience. I used them once during the last extra 20% credit promo and they accepted every single DVD I sent them, which I believe was around 25 DVDs. This time I'm sending 3 boxes full of DVDs and CDs.

If you haven't shipped anything yet, just make a second trade order with the full list of titles (assuming that none of the prices dropped since the first order). A sale order will eventually expire, so you can forget about the first one as long as your titles are at the same price.

I traded some stuff in-store today... I am a backstage member so got 55% bonus. I didn't trade in much, but I may have to scrounge up some more stuff. I was especially impressed I got $8.13 for Brotherhood of the Wolf, just the standard DVD...
FYI, one item did not match secondspin's prices. They usually do match...

Yes, I don't think that would be a problem.
You are welcome to ship multiple sell orders in the same box. Be sure to include packing slips for all orders. If you ship multiple orders in the same box, the orders will be combined and you will only receive one shipping reimbursement based on the number of units accepted from the combined order.

FUCK!!! I've traded in $380 worth of stuff last week. However, I didn't give them my BS Pass(I didn't know that they gave extra for BS members). I shafted myself out of $38!:(

My local store (which is shit, so YMMV) said that they changed the terms of the BSP and they no longer give an extra 10%. This is supposed to be chain wide, but who knows.

FYI, my local Suncoast said this goes through Feb. 2, even though secondspin ends tonight... As for $380 worth of stuff, HOLY BALLS!!! I suppose I should have tried harder to find more stuff. All I got was $25 so far...

The brown bag 20% promotion is supposed to go through February 28(it says so right on the bag). I'll finish off my returns before February 2 to be safe and I'll definitely fork over my Backstage Pass before I empty the bag. BTW, I've got another $400 to $500 to unload(an early Spring cleaning). I'm going to scoop up a Playstation with my windfall, but I'll wait a while to see if the $100 price drop will turn into a reality.

So, does this continuation apply to FYE, as noted it does for Suncoast?
I have never traded anything in to either of them, but this is very tempting. I already have a PS3, but I would love to get Rock Band for trading in a bunch of DVDs.
How many DVD's did you need to turn in to get $380?
What is the average price gotten or does it vary too much?
Do you get more for a new/sealed DVD, versus an open one? I have a lot of DVDs that I have never opened.
Thanks.

I traded in over $500 worth using the brown bag promotion last weekend at an FYE.
To get an idea of the trade-in values you'll get at an FYE, just go to wherehouse.com and do searches to sell DVDs by either title or UPC. That is what I did. The prices FYE will give are mostly the same with a few here or there that go for a tiny bit less. Also, with the 20% brown bag promotion, the 25% for taking store credit and the 10% for a backstage pass membership, you can add 55% to the prices Wherehouse gives you and it'll be a pretty close estimation to what you'll get in store.
Also, from my experience you will get nothing extra for trading in a brand new title. They will treat it as though it were used.

This is true. I've read in a receiptless return thread in the Store Forum that FYE will give you store credit for a sealed DVD without a receipt. I would take those in during a different visit and get full credit for them. BTW, I traded in about 40 DVDs for the $380(some were box sets-Buffy, Angel). I usually average around $8 per trade-in title. I'm still kicking myself for not using my BS Pass for these returns. Maybe I'll take my return receipt back to the store and see if I can get a sympathetic cashier to give me a retro 10% credit(I'm not holding my breath on that one).

The same Sony that denied the last price drop 48 hours before it happened and even after the Circuit City ads had been leaked all over the internet? Thanks, I will keep dreaming.:)

I sent a shipment of DVDs in on Saturday via media mail with a delivery receipt and saw that they were delivered Monday morning. Received an email this morning, but can't view it yet. Checked my account at SecondSpin and it shows that all items have a status of Received. So I assume that means everything was OK. The process was amazingly fast.
