Does anybody have one of these things? I'm sure they can't replicate a 5 speaker setup, but wasn't sure.

I have some interest if I can get a pretty decent experience with one speaker Vs 5+ just from a wiring perspective. It's pretty pricey for one speaker, but if I can get good results from one I may be interested.

I'm not sure how it could really give an impression of surround sound though.

I don't know, but I think I'd have a hard time accepting it as working. Even if the technology is somewhat effective in a blind test, just knowing there aren't surround speakers would work against it, you know? I'm not sure I could just put that out of my mind.

It does look like it would be good in the case where you just cannot wire surround speakers, as an improvement over just the TV speakers. BTW, there are some wireless speakers available, so you may want to look into those.

I would just get two high end Polk speakers and have a nice 2.0 set up than a crappy faux-surround sound set up. The main issue with these 'Surround-Bars' is that they have a really narrow sweet spot, where pretty much only one or two people sitting directly in front of it will get the 'surround' experience.

Bumping this thread to discuss the Polk Audio SurroundBar®360° DVD Theater.

Does anyone have any experience with it? Sounds like a vast improvement over the prior two PA SoundBar's...

I'm looking for a new surround set-up -- I had it narrowed down to either KEF or Orb Audio...until I heard about this. Have not yet heard a demo, but plan on doing so eventually.

Surprisingly my experience with the Bose 3-2-1 system isn't half bad. It certainly isn't a true 5.1 setup, but it's much better than a standalone tv speaker setup. If this is anywhere near as good then I'd say go for it.

EDIT: Scratch that. $1200?! My comment on the Bose system should be qualified that it was a very good deal and certainly wasn't an MSRP purchase. If that were the case I likely wouldn't recommend.
