So I just had an interesting chat with a character who started out with lots of flattery, then pimped his forums a lot and tried to convince me to join. Looking through Google I found his screen name has been used for lots of other forum pimping. He told me his user name on the DVD Talk forums was Ilmago but I have not found a single post by him and thus no profile on him whatsoever.

What would that be? I've gotten the same thing from this person. I haven't interacted with them because I just happen to be away from my computer when they try to talk to me.

I didn't get AIM from this spammer, but I did get the same post in a private message from him. His user name showed he was banned.

It seems to me they shouldn't be able to PM after they're banned. So I banned his IP as well. But having your IM's in your profile makes it kind of hard to prevent someone from contacting you if they really want to.

I just deleted my AIM user name from my profile so that this doesn't happen again.
