DVD Talk review of 'Johnny Suede'

I read Jamie S. Rich's DVD review of Johnny Suede at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=32035 and...

Jamie, in the commentary, does the director diss Brad Pitt at all? Because I thought that he was critisizing Brad Pitt with his James LeGros "Chad" character from Living In Oblivion..

He discusses some of his misgivings about Brad Pitt's performance, noting that he intended Johnny to be more childlike and not as dumb as Brad played him. He feels this actually slows the pace of the movie down and hurts it. Yet, it seems in the years since, he DiCillo has grown a lot more generous and sees that possibly this is as much a fault of his direction as Pitt's. He actually says very nice things about Brad's involvement, his gung-ho attitude and creative contributions.

I'm not sure if his feelings used to be harsher. Now you made me want to see Oblivion again.
