The Panasonic version can usually be had for about $50 more than the Samsung. I would go Panny over Samsung.
Right now, PC Richard has the 720p version of the Panny for $1300 which is a GREAT price.
Not sure. I keep going back and forth on this, but I just measured how far back from my TV I sit and it's a little over 9 feet. So I think I'm going back to 720p.
Samsungs make good plasmas, then?

Get the Pioneer 5080, 720p but looks much better than any Samsung. $1999.99 at Best Best (might be cheaper online)

I got the Samsung 5064 from Amazon when it was a little over $1300 (now over $1500) and I also got a $100 gift cert to NFL.com included with the purchase. I think it is a great set, but I also think either the Pioneer or Panasonic are winners also. If budget was no concern I would get the Pioneer.
Lots of good info on www.cnet.com where all three dominate their top ten list of TV's from 2007.
Also check out www.avsforum.com for lots of user info.

I got the 5054 and like it alot... If I could have found the panny for the same price probably would have gotten that, but the Samsung was a good deal and I had some GC as well to BB.

For that kind of money...get the Pioneer.
For less money, get the Panny 720p version.

Yeah, I think I'll go with the Panasonic 720p. However, the anti-glare coating adds a lot to the price- is it worth it? I do sometimes watch TV in a relatively bright room. However, blackout curtains would be less expensive than the anti-glare model.

I have a Samsung 5054 and love it. But I like Samsung products in general.
