What is the best Extended/director cut?

I was thinking about this, when I was watching Fantastic four(Extended edition).
Lot of movies has re-lease with extra scene. Like Fantastic four EE is over 20 minutes longer and much better version. I think the best I have seen is Superman 2 Donner version and Alien3 Director cut. What about you DVD talker?

Kingdom of Heaven. It made the film go from a 3 to a 10 for me.

yeah that's one of the best examples...

even Ridley Scott said the theatrical release was rather butchered...

so i never watched the theatrical cut and got the 4 DVD set when it came out...

all three LOTR releases were significantly better movies and 'The Two Towers' was easily the most improved...

the director's cut of 'The Wild Bunch' comes to mind ...

another that comes to mind is the Turner Classic Movies director's cut of 'Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid' by Sam Peckinpah...

i guess 'Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid' might be my favorite... that film went from a butchered hack job to a great film...

Reindeer Games, I know not many liked it but the DC make Affleck's character more of a badass than the pussy he was in the origianl film.

The DC turned the whole film around for me and I really like it now.

For me...

Aliens
Alien 3
Lord of the Rings

Gosh, I'm sure there are more, but I am having a brain fart right now.

As for Superman II... I think Donner's version is a GREAT peak at "what could've been", but the recent reconstruction is by no means the "definitive version".

Daredevil was an infinitely better movie in the directors cut. I'm not sure that's saying much though.

Far and away, Superman II Donner Cut for me. I already liked Superman II, but I was completely blown away after watching the Donner Cut. It was like a whole new movie... and much better!

The LOTR EEs would probably be next on the list.

Some movies I have never seen the original versions, so it's hard to judge if the DC/EE made a big leap or not.

I'm surprised nobody has said Almost Famous: Bootleg Cut. Personally, I think I prefer the shorter, theatrical version. But I know a lot of people who also own the Bootleg Cut would disagree.

All the Lord of the Rings extended cuts.

Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut

Terminator II

Blade Runner: The Final Cut

Daredevil: The R Rated version I thought was pretty solid and definitely improved the film.

Almost Famous bootleg cut: Made a great film even better.
Daredevil DC: A well rounded film that made better sense.
Kingdom of Heaven DC: A complete vision.
Lord of the Rings EE: A must own for a movie buff.

The Abyss, Aliens, Brazil, and True Romance come to mind as well as others already mentioned here, especially Almost Famous.

Most of the best (LOTR, King Kong, Kingdon of Heaven, etc.) have been mentioned already, so my vote would go to Lethal Weapon I and II. Those simple scene extensions were great additions to what were already awesome action films.

Daredevil, LOTR I, II and III, Kingdom of Heaven (not done watching the DC yet though), Fantastic Four, Underworld, Terminator 2. Have Bugsy DC but have not started it yet. I also like Enemy of the State better.

one of the more interesting niche films that exists in two alternate versions was Blue Underground's release of 'Goodbye Uncle Tom' where some wild footage is retained to each specific version.

the unrated version of 'Bloodrayne' is hysterical in that the restored last 4 minutes of the film is all the gore (and alternate camera angles) excised for the R-rated theatrical cut, creating a completely gratuitous megamix of over the top violence/gore scenes. It's not great - it's just extremely funny.

now if only MGM would release the longer tv cut of 'The Birdcage' those extras scenes really add alot to the film.

I'd go with Kingdom of Heaven and the LOTR trilogy.

But I'd give the edge to KOH because while the theatrical LOTR movies are still very solid, KOH goes from horrible to outstanding.

I'd really love to see a Director's Cut of King Kong that is shorter than the theatrical version. I think it may be a great movie trapped in a lot of bloat.

I have liked most directors cut or extended editions that have been mentioned like the abyss, blade runner, fantastic four, DD, spidey 2.1, lotr, kingdom of heaven. ghost rider is another one to check out.

I actually prefer the theatre version of kong, but the extras on the 3 disc set make up for it. king arthur and hellboy improve only a little bit.

Kingdom of Heaven was always a great film. The director's cut improves the film, but not from horrible to outstanding. I don't think any of you saw the great dramatic element involving religion. That element of the film is in both cuts, and it is the most important thing in the entire film. The best DCs are The Abyss and Daredevil.
