Yeah 60 bucks each is still way too expensive.

I picked up the first volume from Family Video for about $45 over the holidays and it's a great set. I say it's worth that much. But I would hate to pay more than that. I really do want the second volume, since I finished the first volume (minus the documentaries).

Still overpriced. Let them collect dust sitting in the warehouse.

I can't believe how much these cost. This set and the new Dr. Who.

I just saw Volume 3 listed at DVDEmpire for $90 ($130 MSRP). Guess Paramount is keeping with tradition.

If they had released these episodes on DVD as they were originally broadcast on ABC, I probably would have picked them up. But revisionist Lucas strikes again... so no sale.

I really like these shows, but I'm not paying anything over $40 per set, and even that's too high for me. I picked up nearly a dozen episodes on VHS at KBToys.com for $3 apiece back in 2000, so I've had my fix in recent years, already.

Does anyone think a price drop on these sets (at least in the next couple years) will actually happen? Just thinking of some of Paramount's more expensive sets, it's usually taken them a while...

(Sorry if this is getting off-topic.)

I would jump at this if I didn't already own them. I have REALLY enjoyed sets 1 & 2. I think the price at Amazon is very fair if you think you can enjoy the documentaries. I have watched all of them and think they are just as good as the show itself. You will have hours of enjoyment. More entertainment than purchasing 4 or 5 movies for the same price.

Yeah but when they do they sometimes mark em down a lot. Like the CSI sets. They came down quite a bit when they were dropped in price. Also, they might show up at Wal-Mart for around $20 sometime.
Wal-Mart usually has some good Paramount Sales. Either in the bargain bin or that $3.88 DVD sale Last year (Perfume: The Story of A Murderer for $3.88 only about 2 months after it came out! or the 2 or 3-disk World Trade Center.)
This is what I am oping for at least.

Sometimes it can take a loooooooooooooong time, though. Just look at the current retail price of Star Trek season sets in release order (IIRC), which were all originally ~$130:

TNG: now $70
DS9: now $70
VOY: still $130
TOS: now $70
ENT: still $130

For some reason, the original series dropped in price, and Voyager hasn't. (Of course, the HD release might have something to do with that.) But there are no guarantees of when a price drop might happen.
