Matlock - The 1st Season --> (4/8/08)

Looks like April 8th for the first season of Matlock: see tvshowsondvd.com

I always liked this show. It will be hard to pull the trigger without at least some special features, and I'm not holding my breath.

Every time I think of Matlock, I think of "The Simpsons" episode where the old folks want to call the new expressway the "Matlock Expressway." I think there was another episode (or the same episode) where the old folks demanded "More Matlock!!"

Finally!

I loved this show and I'm not even that old. I would love a Matlock Highway though.

Sent this story to a friend last night, who was apparently in hysterics over this. I mean, it's Matlock, for fuck's sake. Dude's a master of law!

Picked this up today at Best Buy. Glad to finally have it on DVD, but the back of the case has the dreaded "some episodes may be edited from their original network versions" warning that is definitely a downer. No idea if these are syndicated versions or what is cut out, but I guess this is the most we get on this series.

Edit: checked out the DVD talk review and it seems only the last episode is really edited so that is not too bad for $35.

Just a note to say I rechecked the running time on that episode, and it's actually full length. I'm not sure how I got that other number the first time around (20 straight hours of Matlock makes a critic lose the ability to read simple numbers on a screen, apparently), but it was a royal screw up, for which I apologize. I've amended the review accordingly. If I put anyone off of buying because of that, please take my word that it's worth buying.

Thanks for the update, David. This will at least go from "not going to buy" to "on my wishlist" now. Unfortunately, based on trends over the last couple of years for titles like this, I'm going to wait and see if subsequent seasons are released before I pull the trigger on the first season..."MORE MATLOCK!!"

It was a buy for me either way, but thanks for the update.
