Help with New Years Eve mix for restaurant crowd.

Hi. I am working on a mix to play at my sister's restaurant for new years eve. So far, I've got some good stuff, but I know that there's certain staples that I'm missing. Or if you see something that would work well with the other songs or whatever, feel free to post it. Also, most of these are just songs I like and have a "good feel" for what that's worth. If this were for a personal party, the playlist would be quite different.

Here's the list so far:

Name Artist
You Know My Name - Chris Cornell
April and May - Eggstone
Tantalized - The Church
Venus - Television
The Wonder of You - Elvis Presley
Ophelia - The Band
The Boy I'm Going To Marry - Darlene Love
Don't Worry Baby - The Beach Boys
Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis
Into The Night - Benny Mardones
More More More - Andrea True Connection
More Love - Smokey Robinson And The Miracles
It's Hard To Be a Saint in the City - Bruce Springsteen
Beautiful Girl - INXS
In Shreds - The Chameleons

One Way or Another - Blondie
I Saw Her Again Last Night - Mamas and the Papas
Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton
Desire - Gene Loves Jezebel
Memories - Leonard Cohen
Break My Stride - Mathew Wilder
Everybody's Gonna Be Happy - Kinks
Easy Lover - Phil Collins
Alone Again Or - Love
Just Like Heaven - Cure, The
Before They Make Me Run - The Rolling Stones
Dead Flowers - The Rolling Stones
Be-Bop-A-Lula - Gene Vincent & The Blue Caps
Don't You Want Me? - Human League
Take On Me - A-Ha
Into the Groove - Madonna
The Model - Kraftwerk
Girl On the Wing - The Shins
I Saw The Light - Todd Rundgren
Walls Come Tumbling Down - The Style Council

No after midnight, 1999, no real party songs. Most are sappy ballads. You want people partying and getting hammered.

And where is Auld Lang Syne?

it's more of a background music mix than a "kick out the jams" type thing. I agree a bunch of sappy ballads are still on there that I gotta remove. I'll definitely add 1999, since it's a staple. Not sure about "After Midnight" since I can't stand Eric Clapton, but maybe it'll be needed. Thanks for the suggestions.

Cradle of Love can't lose (although I should go with one of the non-hits from Rebel Yell or something)

Here's the playlist I gave my wedding DJ for use during dinner. We got a LOT of compliments for it being young music (vs Sinatra and the "norm" for wedding dinner) without being intrusive, overbearing or a disturbance to conversation.

“Chasing Cars” - Snow Patrol
“Over My Head”/”How to Save a Life” – The Fray
“Champagne Supernova”/“Wonderwall” – Oasis
“Today”/”1979”/”Tonight Tonight” – Smashing Pumpkins
“Soul to Squeeze”/”Behind the Sun”/”The Zephyr Song” - Red Hot Chili Peppers
“3 AM” – Matchbox 20
“Till I Hear it from You”- Gin Blossoms
“Iris” - Goo Goo Dolls
“Dreams”/”Linger” – Cranberries
“One”/”All I Want is You” – U2
“Love Song”/”Friday I’m in Love” – The Cure
“If You Could Only See” - Tonic
“Counting Blue Cars” - Dishwalla
“Drive” – The Cars
“Hanging By A Moment” - Lifehouse
“Here's To The Night” - Eve 6
“Out of My Head” - Fastball
“Everything You Want” - Vertical Horizon
“Take A Picture” – Filter
“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” – Deep Blue Something
“Amber” – 311
“Crash into Me”/”Everyday” – Dave Matthews Band
“Undeniable” – Mat Kearney
“Roll to Me” – Del Amitri
“Barely Breathing’ – Duncan Sheik
“Don’t Speak”/”Underneath it All” – No Doubt
“You’re Beautiful’ – James Blunt
“Black”/”Yellow Ledbetter’/”Elderly Woman…” – Pearl Jam
“Wonderful” – Everclear
“Runaround’ – Blues Traveler
“Every Morning” – Sugar Ray
…and pretty much anything by John Mayer, Coldplay and similar bands
