Are theaters that crowded on X-Mas Day?
I was wondering what the crowds are like on X-Mas day. me and my mom are planning to see "Juno", but I really don't want to be swarmed by mobs. Find parking and all that and wonder if I will have to wait for a table at T.G.I.F. which is opened as well.
Let me know. Thanks.

In my town it's very crowded on X-Mas day. My advice is you should purchase ticket a day earlier. My aunt bought us tickets for the LOTR:The Return of the King on Christmas Eve so we could see it the next day.

Generally, in my experience, movie theaters are pretty packed on X-Mas day and with good reason. Basically nothing else is open and after the morning X-Mas gathering most families don't have a lot to do so they go to the theater.
I remember a few years ago going to see Meet the Fockers on X-Mas day at like 10:30 PM and it was packed. I'll probably go check out Charlie Wilson or Sweeny Todd later today and imagine it'll be fairly busy.

I live in the Metro DC area. I went to see AvP #2 today at 12 noon. The theater I was in was approximately 75% full at that time (due in no small part to the anticipation level for the movie).

They are packed in the Phoenix burbs. I worked there for 3 years. Every Christmas was extremely busy. Right up there with tentpole summer movies and Thanksgiving releases. At times, ALL of the movies would sell out. The popular ones would fill up first, followed by the "oh, I guess I sorta' wanted to see this" secondary and third choices.

the parking lot was mobbed, akin to shopping before X-Mas. this is one of the largest malls in the US. 2nd to i think only Mall of America in MN. but, i bought the ticks on fandango and went into see "Juno" pretty early so got great seats. i would say by showtime the stadium style theater was close to 100%, maybe 1 or 2 seats empty at the very front. even those may have been filled.
T.G.I.F.'s wasn't too bad either. all in all even though it was mobbed, it wasn't such a bad experience as sometimes these situations can be.
and "Juno" was simply excellent. i had a smile on my face the entire movie and that hasn't happened since "Waitress" and before that i couldn't even guess.
not a bad day out i would say!

Wait.. the only time you've left your house on Christmas was to play Magic:TG? Man, you should get yourself a life and go to the movies. I hear there's tons of people there!
Either that or you should avoid it at all cost. There may be girls, catch coodies.
Since it's about the only thing that is open that actually uses English as the primary language, movies are crowded on Christmas.

UPDATE:
I went to a late(11:05p) show for AVP2 and it was pretty much filled up.

PACKED in Times Square today... We went to see Juno. It was sold out so we had to buy tickets to a different movie and sneak in to see it. It worked out but we had to sit in the front row...

Went to National Treasure 2 yesterday at noon. Got there at about 11:30 and there wasn't anyone in the theater. Then, about 5 till, the entire place filled up. Just hoards of people. It was amazing to see.

I used to work at a theater and Christmas day business often rivaled or passed the opening week of the summer blockbuster season. I hated working Christmas day ironically that's when the rudest and nastiest people come out.

I went to the 9:40 PM showing of I am Legend and there were two couples with their newborn kids (in strollers) in the theater and yes, the kids were crying throughout the movie. WTF is wrong with these people. Christmas night? get a friggin babysitter or stay home!
