X-Mas gift: Need some help (A.I.C, King's X, Soundgarden, Tool)

It's VERY late in the game, but I have had NO luck looking for a Christmas gift for my brother, and I need some ideas today (if anyone is out there).

He's got a lot of disposable income, so buying something for him is always tough to begin with. I figure I'll try to buy him a CD that he doesn't already have, but I'm looking for some ideas.

He likes Alice In Chains, King's X, Soundgarden, Tool, Pantera, Stereomud, etc, and back in the day was a HUGE Iron Maiden and Metallica fan (back in the day)...

Any suggestions?

(I've been considering Alter Bridge's Blackbird, but I'm not sure if that's maybe just a little too straight ahead Metal/Hard Rock - it sounds really good to me. What do you think? Should I go with this one or do you have a better idea?)

Prototype are an interesting band. Sort of proggy metallica.

Dethklok - The Dethalbum. The greatest metal album of the year.

OK, here's a list of what I'm looking at so far (and what I buy depends on what I can actually FIND today)...

Jelly Jam - Either CD
Platypus - When Pus Comes to Shove
Jughead - Jughead
(All 3 related to King's X)

Thought Chamber - Angular Perceptions (fantastic, insane Prog Metal)
Alter Bridge - Blackbird (pretty darned good, a leading candidate)
Finger Eleven - Greyest of Blue Skies and Them VS You VS Me
Edgewater - South of Sideways and We're Not Robots
Prototype - Trinity (may not be available in the U.S. right now, though)

He likes things that are fairly modern, heavy, and just a tad alternative - although he still might like Alter Bridge's Blackbird even though it's somewhat mainstream and almost straightforward Metal in spots.

Any other suggestions? (I'm leaving in 2 hours to go get the CD.)

As far as the question... I'm a hair metal fan, I don't know anything about Soundgarden and Tool other than I think they ____. Get him the new Iron Maiden.

The first Jelly Jam is MUCH better than the second.

I'd personally go with Dream Theater, but the Isis recommendation is another good pick.

I always suggest Porcupine Tree - Deadwing. It rocks, is proggy, and most people I know don't have it.

Well, I ended up getting him the Alter Bridge Blackbird CD, and he seemed very interested in it (he thought that the first Alter Bridge album was well made, just too Creed for his tastes, but seeing as how this one is further removed from Creed maybe he'll like it more).

I also gave him the full list of what I was looking at, and he picked out 3 or 4 titles that he will likely get. I may just e-mail him the link to this thread...

OH, I picked up the Monster Ballads X-Mas CD, and while it is definitely a mixed bag, the highlights are excellent! Dokken steals the show with "Dream Warriors," err, I mean, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." Great stuff! A Christmas CD I can get excited about!

He loves Alice in Chains and no one has suggested Mad Season? Brilliant album.
