Does disc "clouding" affect disc longevity?
Hi everyone,
I've noticed over the years that about a fifth of the dvd's I buy have some milky swirls called "clouding" on the reading side of the disc. The discs play fine. I looked in this website's archive and elsewhere and other people have stated that clouding doesn't usually affect playability.
However, I haven't found any information regarding how long clouded discs will last, that is, whether they will deteriorate faster and thus have a shorter lifespan than a normal disc. Does anyone know if a clouded disc will deteriorate faster than normal?
thanks

I have 7-8 year old discs with such "clouding" that plays fine, in fact, they are as good as any newly manufactured discs (I did a quality scan on them on a PC).
The "clouding" is unevenly distributed glue between the plastic layers, by the way.
