Hi all,

So I know this is cutting it short, but I figured I'd ask the all knowing otters.
One of the things my wife has mentioned she'd like for Christmas is a quirky/arty neckace. She likes things the are individually made and doesn't really go for the flashy stuff. Any suggestions of where I can find this at short notice (either online or in store)? Thanks to all of you.

I haven't purchased from any of these places but here are a few:

Thanks for the helpful suggestions orangerory. One of those is just what I was looking for, but it's in Canada, so I think it will take too long. I'll bookmark it for some other time though.

Where are you located? That would help narrow it down. Also, do you have a local hippy section in your city? Maybe an open market? You can also try an art gallery, they sometimes carry jewelry. Best of luck.

I'm in the bay area (basically San Jose), so yeah, lots of hippies. hmmm, you got me thinking. Maybe I'll have to pop up to Haight Ashbury and look about. Any suggestions?

Overstock.com (http://www.overstock.com/Worldstock/Necklaces/801/subcat.html) has some (allegedly) handcrafted "world" jewelry. I've purchased a few things from them and have been pleased overall. Today is the last day for free shipping.

If you want it by Christmas, follow KD's advice. Find small boutiques and avoid the big jewelry places.

Sorry, I'm up in Oregon. Let me see if I can get a hold of someone down in your area.

Jeez, I am so Kitty's bitch.

Haight Ashbury would be a good choice. Santa Cruz and Monterey would also be good (and it's a nice drive too). If you're willing to wait till next Sunday, the flea markets at the Capitol Drive-In and Santa Cruz Drive-In would possibly be worth visiting.

There's always eBay.

Are you kidding me? Throw a rock. It will land within 50 ft. of someplace selling something like this.

I thought you were in Idaho or something.

Thanks everyone, with one exception (who can take a long suck of my arse). You have given me some great ideas. Happy Christmas.

your wife sounds like me, and I love Etsy.com (www.etsy.com) . I buy all of my necklaces there these days, and most of them are one of a kind. happy shopping!
