And what exactly is wrong with the previous edition? Aren't there still some movies which have never been released or movies without anamorphic transfers that would be a better use of resources?

Wow, MGM is really making a grand slam with these baseball movie SE's.

Well for one, the previous SE was a two sided disc. The same material spread on to 2 discs would be enough for some to upgrade, but not me.

a lot of this has to do with the switchover to fox distribution. they add a fox logo somewhere on the back of the box, and promote a new dvd, as opposed to just re-pressing another batch of the old disc
