So my in-laws just bought themselves an HD-DVD player for Christmas, and have been eagerly awaiting Season 3 of Lost. Does anyone know if Lost's being released on Blu-Ray precludes an HD-DVD release? If there might ever be an HD-DVD release, I'll hold off on getting it for him, but if it's Blu-Ray exclusive, I'll go ahead and get the standard release.
Thanks.

You could always get them a bluray player.

Get the standard release. It is not coming anytime soon, if ever.

Yup, it's Disney, right? They're Blu-ray exclusive and don't look to be wavering any time soon. Get the DVD...

It's ABC -> Disney so no it won't be on HD-DVD unfortunately.

The network the show airs on is irrelevant. It's the production company that releases the show on home video.
'House' is a Universal production that airs on the Fox channel. The DVD was released by Universal.
In this case, Lost does happen to be produced by Disney, but that really has nothing to do with it airing on ABC.

Maybe he was referring to the production company: ABC Studios.

LOST will be to Blu-Ray what Heroes is to HD-DVd. Sometimes it pays to go both ways even if it costs more.

I wouldn't say the network is irrelevant because a lot of ABC shows are released by Disney. It's just not something you can rely on--same as not all CBS shows are released by Paramount, etc.

You will never see this on HD DVD(world wide Blu-ray exclusive). Disney is committed to Blu-ray almost as much as Sony is.
