Damn, that's like their 3rd or 4th singer in the last couple of years. I liked Steve Augeri. He sounded Steve Perry-ish but with stronger pipes.

I think it's the 3rd, they went from Augeri to Soto to now Pineda. He's 40 years old, so not a "Filipino kid."

Higher Place was one of the best Journey songs ever. I wish they would have cut more tunes like that, but Arrival was way too thick on the sappy ballad shit. And Generations just sucked. At least in the Perry years, for the most part, they were able to find the right balance between rockers and ballads.

I wish they had picked another guy named Steve, whose last named rhymed with Perry/Augeri.

Well this guy can certainly sing. His band really sucks though.

I like the tribute to the Sopranos at the end of the first video

Yeah, Augeri had problems and couldn't perform at full strength so I think he was using a vocal guide in some of their shows. As far as I know, Soto was never an official member, he was just there to finish out the tour dates. He has his own band(s) which I don't think he was planning on leaving.

This guy definitely has the pipes. Hopefully the real Journey sounds better than his cover band He definitely doesn't look 40 though

JSS was formally announced as Journey's lead singer. He found out that he was let go via their website...they hadn't talked since the announcement that took place after the last Journey tour.

OK, where the hell is Steve Perry? And what is he doing where he can't work with these guys a few months a year? I'm guessing he hates them and vice versa (?)

It is only a matter of time before they realize they can all make more money if they suppress their animosity towards each other, and make preparations for the big "Classic Lineup" tour.

Damn, that sucks. Have some balls and call the guy.

Not a big Journey fan but I heard a couple of Soto sung Journey tunes and thought he did well. I remember Soto from Malmsteen's Marching Out which was my favorite for quite a while after it first came out.

This new guy sounds pretty good though. Good luck to him. Maybe he'll hear that they fired him over a podcast or something.

Steve Perry has as much chance of returning as do Led Zep and The Eagles have at reuniting ....

Seriously ... I think this new guy has some seriously good pipes.

I remember when my wife and I saw Journey and Def Leppard at Mohegan Sun two (?) years ago, Dean Castronovo even sang lead on at least one of the songs and did a pretty damn good job.

After watching clips of Jeff Scott Soto on YouTube I think they made a mistake. That guy sounded great!

This guy is just a Perry clone with no personality of his own.

Growing up in the 80s I was a huge Journey fan. Freakin' huge. But I thought it was cheesy that they decided to get a sound-a-like when they replaced Perry. Have some balls and go another way. It worked for Van Halen. Sammy Haggar was a complete change of pace over David Lee Roth in my mind. That worked out well.

Now they choose a guy in a cover band? Please.

Didn't work out so well when they tried it again though. Gary Charone (sp?) is a fantastic singer and frontman, but VH fans pretty much rejected him.

Not bad but does anybody really listen to Journey any more?
