Gamerscore Challenge and $140,000 in prizes.
Has anyone seen this yet? www.OldSpiceExperienceChallenge.com It started today.
360voice and P&G are teaming up to create gamerscore challenges that offer rewards in the form of Best Buy gift cards, Amazon GC, Marketplace points, Xbox Live & Gamefly subscriptions and HD-DVD Drives. All it takes is a 360voice account.
From what I can tell, the contest is purely user driven & partially user created. Basically, there's a certain number of prizes each week that can be won. Users can create their own group or join another to get into the contest. The catch is to have enough people to join up so the contest can actually start.
Pretty interesting idea. Here's a breakdown of the prize schedule: http://www.360voice.com/challenge-prizes.asp
Official rules: http://www.360voice.com/osec/reward-rules.html

Decent idea but with the PS3 finally getting some decent games and the Wii with a handful of decent games, achievement point chasing with shitty games isn't too appealing at the moment. Maybe it's just me.

I liked the first idea better of having it all run via xbox...nice and easy. This is too complicated and I'll opt out, even though I easily one the 1st contest.

I just threw my tag in there as well. We're up to 8 on there. I haven't been playing as much dreck lately with Rock Band out and taking up most of my free time, but anything to help out a fellow 'Talker.

I set up a $100 challenge because I'm greedy. Feel free to join when the first one fills up!

I don't have a 360, but I'm curious what this boosting thing is. I heard it in another thread, but I don't know anything about it. What is it?

Edit: On a side note, Scene It? Is probably the easiest to get the points this side of Avatar.

Hey folks I am one of the two folks that run 360voice, saw this thread and your challenges! We featured one of the challenges on our homepage.
You can only do one challenge at a time, but you can back to back challenges if you like. Although if you win a challenge, you can't do additional challenges in that same tier.
Yes there are some easy games, but the good thing is if they use it once, the next challenge they won't have it. Or you can not let people in your challenge who haven't played Avatar yet =)
Finally I just thought I would mention I used to be in the DVD Website world, had one of the first players and did a DVD review compilation site. Then created TeamDVD with a few friends. But have since been concentrating on gaming, although I love my HDDVD player.

How come some consider it cheating? And I thought people were using saves or something like that to cheat and get points?

2) Boosting. 3) Game saving.
Playing the game legit is self explanatory.
Boosting on the other hand is a bit different. Boosting is when a group of people get together and purposely play to unlock the achievements. For example. In Gears of War the ranked matches are throw together randomly but there are ways to get a group together in the same game. I won't explain how because that wouldn't be fair. Anyway, once they are in the match together they all take turns killing each other and using their specific weapons to unlock the weapons achievements while everyone else just sits and waits for their turn. There is no challenge and no opposition to fight so you can just unlock your achievements with no problems.
Game saving is the worst of the worst because people don't even have to play the game at all to get the achievements. Again I won't explain the process, but the end result is a 100% save file for a game making its way onto your xbox resulting in all the achievements unlocking at the same time for the game. It is the worst of the worst. The best way to find out if someone has game saved for a game is by checking the days the achievements were unlocked. If someone unlocked all the achievements for Oblivion in ONE day it is pretty obvious what they have done.
