Question about Fox's "screeners" sent to DVDTalk for review
I've noticed the majority of DVD's reviewed here from Fox are of the screener variety, as noted in the reviews.
However, other sites like DVD Movie Guide seem to get the real deal weeks in advance, as their reviews make no mention of the disc being a screener.
Is there some reason for Fox's double standard on this?

Perhaps DVDTalk is more upfront about the discs they're getting? For example, I've seen a lot of reviewers complain about the video transfer on the Futurama movie, but only DVDTalk had the good sense to note that this was not the final pressing they were reviewing.

I don't know too much about this since I've only ever received one screener from Fox before, but that one too was a watermarked/not final pressing disc. Maybe they do send final copies, but I doubt it.
You should e-mail DVDMG and ask...

It's entirely possible that other site has a better relationship with Fox. Not that we have a bad relationship with Fox, but maybe someone has an especially good relationship with someone there.

Colin Jacobson might be the single best DVD reviewer out there, so I don't doubt that everything's on the up and up with DVDMG.

It's funny because it seems like more often than not he likes movies I don't like and vice versa. But every time I see something I think is a problem in a transfer, I check his site, and sure enough, he mentioned it.
I'm somewhat surprised they're not doing HDM over there.
I definitely think DVDTalk deserves real copies from Fox. Do they think you guys are going to pirate them and risk the website? Yeesh.

I don't think it's a question of pirating, as Fox usually does get us real copies at some point after the initial review. And considering we have a policy of being very vocal about when we're sent test screeners, it's in Fox's best interest to get us the final product.
