Shrek the Halls? DVD Release?

Just saw this on TV. Had to check the extras listed on Shrek the Third DVD and didn't see it as an extra. Has anyone heard if they have a planned DVD release of it?

I'm sure it'll be released eventually.

They'll probably put out a Shrek The Third SE around the time whatever the next Dreamworks animated movie comes out with Shrek The Halls as a special feature & put in moviecash for the doubledip. Just my theory.

I thought it was pretty good. I'd definitely put it in my annual Christmas rotation, although I'm hoping for an HD DVD release.

Yeah, I enjoyed it on ABC-HD -- would definitely pick it up if they release it hi-def.

It's early enough that they could put it out in time for this Christmas. But like you said, it's all about the money so they'll wait until DreamWorks Animation has something coming out in Nov/Dec 08.

Paramount/DW has nothing on their schedule for this. But, they did slide Heartbreak Kid (2007) into the 12/26 slot rather quickly.

Who knows?

They'll probably run it again before Christmas to pull in the most viewers and then next Christmas it will most likely get its own stand-alone DVD release. They won't have this as a special feature on another edition of Shrek 3 in the future when they easily could make money off of it by itself.

Considering this was a 30 minute special, I doubt it will get a stand alone DVD release. That would make it roughly 22 minutes of content with no commercials.

Not necessarily true. See: The Grinch, Charlie Brown Christmas, etc.

Exactly. Christmas specials alone, half hour, by themselves, will generate money.

It would be nice if they could put all the Shrek TV spots on the eventual DVD, and Dreamworks released Shrek 3-D as a stand alone DVD and it's only 8 mins.

Well, Shrek 3-D was on it's own DVD, but you could only get it by buying Shrek 2 or the Shrek: Story So Far set with fullscreen copies of Shrek 1 and 2. (For the record, I bought the story so far but sold off the fullscreen copies and put widescreen copies in)

Anybody know if they'll air this again this year? I DVR'd it in HD but the audio was all messed up. All the music and background noise, but none of the vocals... hooray.
