Same problem I had last week...Deion Branch (17pts @ the Rams) or Thomas Jones (7pts @ Dallas), in the flex position.

DJ Hackett's hurt again, so Branch will probably be involved more. They're playing the Eagles IN Philly, and we all know what happened last weekend...which might cause Seattle to throw more & target Branch more than they do already.

The Jets play Miami IN Miami. Jones should have the game of his career, considering what he was able to do against the Steelers 2 weeks ago. He's hasn't found the endzone all season, but he's bound to eventaully...right?!

Rule of thumb is starting a RB over a WR (unless that WR plays for NE :D ), correct? RBs get more touches over the course of a game, thus their chances of scoring are greater....and Jones gets used in the Jets passing game, nothing like Westbrook, but still.

And yes, I know I'm over-thinking this week's match-up, BUT, if I win I clinch a post-season birth. -pray-

Thoughts?

Martin, remember, even with Hackett in the lineup, Branch is still the #1 guy.

Jones hasn't scored this year, which is unbelievable and unacceptable. He's now on my bench regardless.

Peterson is said to be returning, so it's a no-brainer: Fargas.

Tony Romo vs Green Bay, or Big Ben vs Cincy?

(important game for me and my opponent -- the winner of the game is in the playoffs (which start next week), the loser is out)

This is a tough question. Cincy is 13th in the AFC in pass def., but Ben might be without Holmes, who is having a great year.

Green Bay is middle of the road in pass def. (8th), and Romo should have Crayton back. Not that it matters as long as he has Owens.

Romo is second in the NFC in passing yardage, first in TDs. They are going to throw and throw often.

I'd go with Tony.

How about this one:

Romo vs. GB
or
Favre vs. Dall

I've been using Romo in all but two games this year. I'm in fourth place, playing the third-place team, top four go to the playoffs.

Funny thing is, I have Peterson, Chester Taylor, Fargas, and Gore.

I'm starting Peterson over Taylor, even though Taylor will most likely get the start. But Fargas vs. Gore is tougher than I thought... Fargas is going up against Denver, and Gore against CAR. Was Gore's huge game against ARI a fluke, or should I ride him the rest of the way?

Fluke or not, that's how he performed last season (except he rarely found the endzone) AND how he was expected to perform this season.

I really don't see the Vikings playing Peterson much more this season, maybe splitting time with Taylor. He was very accident prone in his college days...but I guess they're still in the wildcard hunt, so who knows.

Gore is not a fluke, but his offensive line and QB are. As bad as Carolina's defense has been, Gore isn't a bad start at all.

These are my options:

My thoughts are in bold. Should I start Taylor over any of my recievers? It's a PPR league so Peterson is valuable now that he is the starter. If Harrison goes should I play him and who would you bench if so? 2 RB's, 2 WR's and 1 Flex.

RB
MB III
F Taylor
A. Peterson (Chi)
J Norwood
L Washington

WR
G Jennings
H Ward
M Harrison
D Branch
S McDonald
J Jones
DJ Hackett

Argh! So Miami might resort to using Gado, who they cut last week, as their starting RB instead of Cobbs, who I picked up. And of course Gado is now gone from every league I'm in.

Hmm...I need a QB.

Drew Brees vs. TB
Kurt Warner vs. CLE
Marc Bulger vs. ATL

I am leaning towards Warner, but I don't know if I should sit Brees.

I also have both Peterson and Taylor. Should I avoid/start them both or what?

I have Brian Westbrook, Willie Parker, Marshawn Lynch (who is, at best, Questionable) and Marion Barber as well with 3 slots to fill.

It's the last game before playoffs and I'm in already but it's possible for me to fall from #2 seed (playing #3) to #4 to play the top team (and he has Tom Brady, Wes Welker and Terrell Owens, three players I might be able to match with 3 RBs).

Need 2:

Grant vs Cowboys
Lewis vs Cards
Fargas vs Denver

I was going to stick with the first 2, but the Fargas/Denver matchup looks too good to pass on.

Shaun Alexander?

I currently have Fargas and Edgerrin James starting instead. Thoughts? Alexander has been such a bust this year.

GB D or Eagles D?

Taylor @ Ind

Ward @ Chi

It looks like Morris may miss the game with an ankle, so SA would get the bulk of the carries. Ironically, SA has now become the new Ricky Watters.

I think it's gotta be Schaub here - Rivers has been horrible over the last few weeks, and the Titans have certainly been giving up the points recently too (including 36 to the Sage Rosenfels-led Texans back in week 7).

I think I agree. Besides, the Chargers are my team. I finally benched Rivers last week and he threw 3 TD's. I should just keep him on the bench for the Chargers sake.

I need to pick 3 of the following 5:

- Branch at Philly - definitely starting
- Steve Smith vs. SF - hoping that Vinny will be back
- Engram at Philly - no Hackett, so should get some looks
- R.White at STL - he didn't do dick for weeks, then I benched him last week and he went for 100+ and a score, naturally. Good matchup this week
- Stokley at Oak - w/ Javon Walker coming, not particularly thrilled with his prospects.

It pretty much comes down to Engram vs. Roddy White for me.

I've been singing Roddy's praises all year, and I'm not going to stop now. He is the only viable receiving threat for the Falcons and should have a 1k year. Had a big week last week too.

You may have been signing his praises but from week 4 through week 11 he had exactly 1 TD and 1 100-yd game (both coming in the same game); his receiving yd totals over that period were 64-55-64-110-55-57-28. He's been a model of mediocrity.

On a team of incompetency. I wonder how that equation works out :)

Anyway, using standard scoring, they are pretty much equal. I guess to me, it comes down to the fact that when Branch is around, Hasselbeck gives him lots of looks, but Roddy is the #1 guy in ATL.

Perhaps a dumb question here, but I'm just looking for some second opinions. Is there any reason to start Devin Hester over Adrian Peterson (Chi) for the flex spot this week? I can't imagine after last week there's an idiot alive that's going to consistently kick to Hester and Peterson should be the main back with Benson out. Hester always has the shot to go for a return TD and a ton of yards, but you also never know when he's going to drop a goose egg.

Unless you get a bonus for return TDs, i cannot see any reason to do this.

With Hester being Questionable right now (although I'm guessing he'll play) with a bad foot, I would keep him out of the lineup. With a guy who bases his game on speed, a foot injury can bring him to a halt.

Not rubbing it in RD (and hindsight is 20/20), but White had a monster game yesterday, second in a row. With a third string QB, no less.

I think he's a #1 WR from here on out.

No need to flatter yourself - as I said, it was a good matchup and I went with him over Engram because of the matchup and because I thought starting Branch and Engram in potential inclement weather probably wouldn't be the brightest thing to do. He was already in my lineup before I asked for advice, which I don't even know why I bother in here since I rarely get replies.

I wouldn't call him a #1 fantasy WR though. That's a stretch. Maybe a #2, which is likely good enough for me to start him w/o much thought in next few weeks (if I go that far in that league).

with the way Steve Smith and Anquan Boldin have been playing, Roddy White is pretty clearly my #1 WR

I think I'm going to use my number 3 WW position to pick up... Roddy White. Geez. And my WR crew was looking pretty solid a few weeks ago.

I only start two and had Cotchery, DJ Hackett, and Roy Williams, with Reggie Brown and Kevin Walter backing them up. Cotchery and Hackett will probably miss the rest of the season (though neither is confirmed so I can't free up a spot), Roy Williams is probably out for the rest of the fantasy season, and Brown and Walter did absolutely nothing yesterday.

So out of desperation I picked up Mcdonald because of Roy's injury (I was thinking about picking Furrey up too, but 3 Lions receivers?) and Bryant Johnson, and someone just dropped Roddy White for Sidney Rice. I may have to jump on White.

How does your league handle tiebreakers? Points or head-to-head.

I tied this week but lost because the other person's reserves got more points. Lame.

I also lost out on the #2 seed in the playoffs because the other person had more points, even though I defeated him twice in the regular season. Lame.

Tiebreakers for standings/seeding?

Total points scored in the season. That's the fairest way to do it.

DVD Josh
12-04-07, 10:05 AM
In one league I have our first tiebreaker is manager efficiency. That means, did you select your best possible lineup? If you tied and had 40 points sitting on your bench, then the other guy would advance. Even if you have a strong bench, you can still advance by starting your best lineup.

Tie games are tie games (though we use tenths of points so that's rare), but ties in the standings are settled by total points.
