Ross Dress For Less: Hellboy 3-Disc DC & The Dark Crystal Collector's Edition $4.99 @

I hadn't checked a Ross Dress For Less for DVDs in several months and stopped by the Gastonia, NC store Monday while shopping at the nearby BestBuy (for those who are not familiar with Ross, it is a discount clothing store chain, which usually has a section of bargain DVDs and CDs near the front of each store).

I was surprised to find a lot of new stock:

Hellboy Director's Cut 3-Disc Special Edition $4.99 (I know that many of you tried to find this set back in August/September when some Walmart stores had it in a 2-pack with a full-screen Kung-Fu Hustle DVD for $13.72 - but this price certainly blows that deal out of the water - and you won't be stuck with a full-screen movie you may not want!)

The Dark Crystal Collector's Edition Box Set (a single disc housed in a handsome brown imitation leather-grain box which also contains a reproduction of Jim Henson's notepad and a numbered limited edition collectible senitype film cel - this was originally somewhat pricey when it was originally issued in 2003 - at nearly $50.00 - and is now out-of-print) $4.99

The Hellboy and The Dark Crystal sets I bought were both in perfect condition with no remainder marks/slashes through the barcode, etc. (as we have seen in the past with some of the Warner Bros. close-outs at Ross).

K-9 - The Franchise Collection Patrol Pack (Jim Belushi - 3 movies) (with outer sleeve) $5.99

Fallen Angel (Dana Andrews - Fox Film Noir Series) $5.99 (the only copy at this store unfortunately had a loose disc - you could also hear pieces of the broken spindle rattling around)

Touch Of Evil (the 1958 Orson Welles film noir classic in the restored version) $5.99

The Ray Bradbury Theater (2-disc Platinum Disc Corporation boxed set with 26 episodes from the series) $6.99

Charlie Chaplin 8-Disc Boxed Set (from Echo Bridge - includes 58 Chaplin shorts on 8 DVDs in slimcases) $8.99

Sci-Fi 4-DVD (14-Movie) Boxed Set (2003 Platinum Disc Corporation - a bunch of older public domain SciFi titles - includes the complete 12-chapter Republic serial "Radar Men From The Moon") $8.99

There were also a number of the Sony titles we've recently seen at Big Lots for $2-3 (Awakenings, Being Julia, A Love Song For Bobby Long, etc. - except they were $4.99 at Ross).

As always with Ross, YMMV.

Great Deal

The Dark Crystal Collector's Edition Box Set @ $4.99 is a "steal-of-a-deal"!!!
The packaging is very cool and the little extras only add to its coolness factor.

I picked this set up along with the Monty Python one @ Sam's Club for $18.xx back in the day.

No Dark Crystal, but found Defenders of the Earth Vol 1 for $5.99.

Ross is still like something out of Mad Max world.

Which version of Flash Gordon is this? Is it the 1980s movie with Sam Jones and Ornella Muti or the animated series or the old b&w serial? Thanks!

I hit 3 Rosses and found most of the DVDs mentioned here, except for Defenders of the Earth. I don't think I saw Touch of Evil either. Got 6th Day SE, Flash Gordon, etc. TONS more DVDs are at all the stores, more than I've ever seen them have. I did find Casualties of War Extended Edition for $4.99, which I missed in the Big Lots and FYE shipments. Every store had 1 or 2 Hellboy Director's Cut. Only found 1 Dark Crystal set but the corners of the box were badly worn and everything inside was floating.

No Dark Crystal at KB Toys here. They do have Filmation's Ghostbusters volume 1 for $10 which they've had on a rack with other kiddie DVDs for a month or two.

If you're finding DVDs at kbtoys, maybe you'd be interested in a $5 off $5 coupon

Sweet, thanks!

The DVD's are in a small rack, probably near the front of the store. Most of the DVD's are marked 2 for $9.98. I do not know for sure if you can buy one individually for 4.99, but I would assume so. The likely won't have a large selection, but I found two gems in there...

The Dark Crystal Collector's Edition Box Set ~ Would someone mind posting a pic of this? I've been to Ross a few times and every time I see a brown DVD box I think "this is it" and of course, nada. Thanks in advance.

And Thanks to the OP for posting.

I've never tried posting a picture here before so this may not work but I'll give it a try:
