Damn, I've never even seen a trailer for Enchanted but it sure is cleaning up. I thought The Mist would score a bit more. I'll be seeing that tonight.

Wow, This Christmas sure is doing very well for a movie I just had to look it up to see what it even was.

Happy to see Enchanted do so well because it's just fabulous.

Was The Mist a Weinstein release? This weekend sure seems like their typical dumb timing.

I had no ideal Enchanted and This Christmas were real movies. I can't believe that they are doing so well since I would think they only have a limited audience each. I guess not.

And What in the hell is the Weinstien company gonna do? seriously? How many bombs does it take for them and New Line to cause serious damage to the studio.

I wish the Mist had done better business. It was a pretty good flick.

Wow, that's pretty bad for The Mist. Can't say I'm surprised though, I went to see it this afternoon and there was like 5 people besides me.

I knew Enchanted would be a hit based solely on the trailer months ago. It cracked me up anyway. And it's Disney doing what it does best.

After the success of This Christmas and the Tyler Perry movies i really think Hollywood should rexamine who they think their target demographics primarily is.

The thing about The Mist is i saw the trailer and it didn't really make me want to run out and see it. The same for Hitman. However, the trailers for I Am Legend and Sweney Todd made me go whoa i need to see those in the theater.

If you watch Disney Channel, they have been promoting the heck out of Enchanted for almost 2 months.

Almost went to see it Friday after shopping, but I was too tired.

The Mist...wow I can't believe this is bombing.

No Country For Old Men...when is this getting a wider release? I can't wait to see just how well it holds up.

The trailers for the mist made it look like a made-for-the-SciFi channel movie of the week.

- No Country For Old Men had almost the same average as Enchanted. Nice!
- Surprised The Mist got so low, alot of ads and word of mouth around here.
- Equally surprised August Rush and Hitman did as well as they did
-Good job Enchanted, still need to check it out.

Their target demographic should be middle-class black families? That would leave out a TON of disenfranchised movie watchers. I don't think so.

Movies like this, Tyler Perry's ouvre, etc. become solid sized hits but never amount to true $100mill+ blockbusters. That having been said, these small-to-mid budgeted pics that pull in $50-$60 million a pop can provide for a steady stream of income.

It didn't help that the dialogue, directing, acting, and effects did little more than confirm that assumption.

I think people just saw Thomas Jane, Stephen King , and badly CG-ed monsters and had Dreamcatcher flashbacks and decided to stay away....

Ain't that the truth! The scene alone where they were trying to convince the black neighbor to come back to the loading dock to check out what had happened to the bag boy, and that RIDICULOUS dialogue, did it for me. This was the dumbest screenplay from a major studio, and major talent (Darabont, shame on you), that I've seen in years.

I'm saying they should prob produce more family friendly films for minorities. The budgets are low and the profits are better. Would you rather invest 60 million in a movie you're hoping will end up with about 100 mill at the boc office or 7 million in about 8 movies that will make 30-40 million a piece?

I agree with that (as I mentioned above), but I disagreed with the assertion that black family films should be their "target demographic". Doesn't make sense. You'll end up like the music industry who decided to place all their eggs in the hip-hop basket and pretty much chased all the white people away. Sad but true.

You probably won't be surprised to hear the answer is "yes".
