Question Re: Wii

Sorry if this has been asked before, but my parents bought my husband and I a Wii for Christmas. Someone had told me that it also plays Gamecube games. Because of this, I really want to sell off my Gamecube, but my question is this:

One of the games I have for Gamecube is Donkey Konga with the bongos...can I still use that on the Wii? Is there a way for the Bongos to connect to the Wii?

I believe 'all' first party GC accessories work with the Wii.
Wiki says "The DK Bongos are also confirmed to be compatible with the Wii."

If they have plugs, there are GC controller slots under a flap on the side of the Wii.
I use a Wavebird and a Gamestop controller, no problem.

Sabrett,

Yea, the Wii has an exact GameCube emulator in it -- so anything that was designed for the GameCube will work flawlessly on the Wii (Accessories, games, etc...)

HOWEVER, keep your old GameCube controllers, because they are REQUIRED when you play the old games -- the new Wii controller wont' work...

Hope that Helped...

I don't have the bongos myself, but as far as I know everything that you can use with the Gamecube can also be used with the Wii. If you have the Wii upright there's a small lid that opens up on top with Gamecube controller ports and memory card slots. Hope that helps.

Also keep your Gamecube memory card as well. As any Gamecube game you play on the Wii will require a GC memory card if you want to save data.

Thanks for all the info :-) Looks like I'll be holding on to everything except the actual Gamecube.

Congrats on a terrific new console BTW. Games you need ASAP:

Super Mario Galaxy
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (I know you've already played it, but trust me...it's amazing)
