I think the $5.88 was Wal-Mart's mistake. They had plenty of As Good As It Gets in a couple of their $2.96 displays but it rang up $5.88, which the cashier corrected. I also got Spanglish and Hart's War. About 8 titles mentioned so far I did not see in the $2.96 displays at all, the rest I did. Pretty sure I saw Bridget Jones in a higher-priced display.
Target seemed to be nearly completely blown out of their discounted DVDs around noon, with empty spaces on the shelves everywhere there was a sale tag. I went to Wal-Mart afterwards and they still had tons of theirs, including lots of displays that looked practically untouched.
Circuit City was the most impressive. They had long, long lists of sale titles printed on their bins in more different price ranges than any other store. The bins were nearly empty but by looking at the lists and walking around to find the titles on the regular shelves I was able to pick up more of them. A lot were the usual suspects but I think this is the first time I saw the special edition of Four Weddings and a Funeral on sale.

Another oddball sale title that showed up at Wal-Mart was the FS Casino Royale exclusive set with poker chips and cards. I believe this was in the $10 sale display. Plenty of other FS at Wal-Mart too, I think at least as bad if not worse than what people are saying they found at Target...definitely a much higher FS ratio than you usually see in their sale displays throughout the year.

A few more...
Bad Girls (EC) [both] - $2.96
Barbershop [LBX] - $2.96
Cadillac Man [both] - $2.96
Crocodile Hunter, The [LBX] - $2.96
Da Vinci Code (2-DVD) (either edition) - $2.96 [I didn't verify this, but it was in the $2.96 bin and an employee said it was $2.96]
Fallen [both] - $2.96
Good Girl, The [both] - $2.96
Hart's War [LBX] - $2.96
History of Violence, A [LBX] - $2.96
It Runs in the Family [LBX] - $2.96
Killing Me Softly [both] - $2.96
Married to the Mob [both] - $2.96
Message in a Bottle [LBX] - $2.96
Pagemaster, The [both] - $2.96
Perfect Storm, The [LBX] - $2.96
Proof of Life [LBX] - $2.96
Rock Star [LBX] - $2.96
Spanglish [LBX] - $2.96
Spawn [LBX] - $2.96
Supernova [both] - $2.96
Swimfan [both] - $2.96
Time to Kill [LBX] - $2.96
Training Day [LBX] - $2.96
Trapped in Paradise [both] - $2.96
Walk in the Clouds, A [both] - $2.96
I can't believe Fifth Element (UE) was $2.96. At my Walmart it was mixed in with the $9.72 (?) DVDs. Lots of $9.72 and $5.88 DVDs were mixed in with the $2.96 ones too. There were no Miami Vices at mine even though it was in the ad, and I already owned most of the good $2.96 DVDs, so I've got to decide if the so-so ones are worth keeping for $2.96. I wanted to pricematch a bunch of stuff, but so predictably Walmart (and Target) only had the P&S versions of things like Open Season, Monster House, and Wedding Crashers to name a few. I think FYE's sale had better choices.

Thanks for the recap. I ran out to check another Wal-Mart and grabbed the last Married to the Mob. If I had known Croc Hunter was going to be in the sale I would have made Wal-Mart an earlier stop today. I'm sure that was one of the fastest sell-outs since it's a great grab for the parents/kids demographic.

Walmart was a joke when I went there today. No organization in any regard to the DVDs. There was a shopping cart with DVDs just thrown in it with a tag on the front for one of the DVDs. They had 4 huge displays all pushed together so there was no way to look at any of them. The DVDs I went there to look for eventually were found by the second manager I asked over next to the frozen food section clear ACROSS the store. I guess you are just supposed to magically know where everything is. Too bad the managers don't even know.
Regardless, I was looking for Eragon but ended up just finding the 2 disc so I went up to the front. After 20 minutes they find it in FULL SCREEN!!!!
UGG!!! So I say in a nice way "No Widescreen? Why is that? All of your TVs in back are ALL widescreen?" And what to I get back....just a blank stare. I left. I hope they enjoyed putting all the crap back that I had just put in a dozen shopping bags.
And a MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the best 2.96 deal was the 2 disc special edition of T3 in widescreen, whoch I picked up in a second. I have seen them before at ross for just a little more, but they were allways in full screen, so I had previously held off, glad I waited!!! now, if i could just find a really cheap deal on A.I. 2 disc special edition in widescreen, I allways see it in the 5.00 walmart bin in full screen. I had seen Slither in the 2.96 bin today and would have picked it up if it was widescreen.

I couldn't get to a Wal-Mart until after 5pm because of work. The cardboard displays were fairly picked over by then, littered with the less interesting titles or FS editions. Two I saw not on the list were:
The Producers (FS)
Miss Congeniality 2 (FS)

Whomever said that Goldmember was fullscreen thank you, I almost opened it earlier today without even looking. Now I can return it or exchange it for a widescreen at another store. God damn fullscreen...

I picked up Dumb and Dumber and the Sure Thing. Sometimes it really pays to wait. The strange thing is I would have bought them if I would have seen them in the 4.99 Bin but I never saw them there
