I've played Holdem and Omaha Hi for a while now and am starting to branch out into other games by playing horse. I played many a hand that I thought I should have won by having the worst hand but I lost. Would someone please give me a brief overview of what constitues a good low hand and a basic "pecking order" for them please?

Here's a good site that explains low-ball: http://www.homepokertourney.com/roberts-rules-of-poker.htm#SECTION_11_-_LOWBALL

It's a fun game to learn. One way to practice and learn the strategies is to play online at Full tilt or party poker (play money of course).

Omaha Hi/lo you need 5 cards no higher than an eight to qualify for low, If there arent at least three cards on the board 8 or lower, then there is no low and the high hand scoops the pot, straights and flushes dont count against you (for a low). You must use 2 cards from your hand.

Razz - Same format as 7 card stud but the high card is the bring in and, there is no requirement for the low hand as there is in omaha and Stud HI/low.

Stud Hi/lo- Just like Omaha Hi/lo but in stud format..

Just sit down and play microlimit Omaha 8 somewhere. You have to learn to read the board and your hand. It'll become second nature in no time, though. The games really aren't confusing. They just take some attention. You can't play them in your sleep like you can with holdem.

I love P/L Omaha HiLo

I started playing about 2 weeks ago. I just love the math involved. Finished 4/340 in the first tourney I entered. Only finished out of the moeny in 1/6 I have played in.

Your brain is fried after 5 hours of it though.

Pot limit omaha hi/lo games will eventually turn you into a serial killer. Enjoy the good run while it lasts, though. The bad runs will drive you nuts.

oh no. i thought i met the love of my life :(

you definitely need cards to play. there is not much bluffing involved. sure, you can play your position but you usually need a hand.

i had one tourney that i couldnt catch anything and went out in like an hour. but it happens with no limit for me as well.

There's nothing better than having 15 outs to scoop and about 10 outs for the low and seeing the turn and river brick twice, leaving you with your dick in your hand wondering what happened.

Cant be as bad as calling a preflop all in with AK suited v K2 and getting sucked out on a 4-board flush to his 2.

NL Hold 'Em is definitely my live game but I like that the cowboys stay away from Omaha HL on-line.
