might get 40 year-old virgin and/or knocked up if the 2-discs are priced at 8.99. i know the pics shown are the single discs, but there have been instances where all versions are priced for the sale. we'll see...

8.99 doesn't seem like the best price for iron giant, since some people have said they've seen it for $4 at big lots, but i've yet to be that lucky. should i bite at this price or has anyone seen it lower?

The Departed SE seems to be on sale for less than $9 everywhere (along with Blood Diamond SE, V for Vendetta and some other Warner titles--in another thread someone with access to wholesale prices confirmed this is a Warner supply-side sale). I don't know if the Buy.com sale is still on, but they had a better price on Ben-Hur and The Departed. I ordered all the DVDs I've mentioned, got free shipping, and got my DVDs in three days (since I live near their CA shipping facility).

I pointed out the listing on the coupon I had printed out (which only said "Knocked Up", no indication of which version) and he overrode it to $8.99. I honestly didn't realize that the sale was only for the 1-disc version, and it's only a $5 difference in MSRP between the two versions. Is there more than one version of the coupon? I used the one linked to in the first post.

No, unfortunately I could only locate the single disk, but it is cool that they honored it. I doubt I'll make a go for it at the chance that it wouldn't work and gas is EXPENSIVE nowadays. :)

It says "2 per title" not 2 total. You can get as many of the DVDs as you want, just not more than 2 of each title. I got 1408 and Volver.

Went to the Borders in SF by ATT park and was able to score 1408, Deathproof and Planet Terror. All were 2 discs and were 8.99. I couldn't find a better deal elsewhere for once. Which is really surprising, because Borders doesn't typically have the best deal around. I hope this is a continued trend.

I just clicked on the OP's link, and the coupon that now comes up clearly indicates which are the single disc, and which are the double disc versions. ("Knocked Up" is supposed to be the single)

If your store is anything like mine, it actually won't be a madhouse...I've found we get a more relaxed customer base by and large, people who set atmosphere over price (which is the opposite skewing from the base of folk around these here online parts--though they do tend to take little crap here)

PS: I helped sort a store for Christmas LAST year, actually, and was there until around this time last year, so I know what you're talking about ;)

Well, if this sale resumes tomorrow, I should add that when I tried to get Borat it would not ring up at 8.99, and eventually a manager decided the problem was the sets with the Borders exclusive "free" postcards included were not in the sale, even though the DVD is identical to the other sets. Confusingly, the sets with the postcards were also regularly priced at $29.99 and the others at $19.99. Bizarre!

Re Borat, I thought about insisting, but since I was already dealing with the manager, I didn't think it would go too far. Plus I didn't really care about the postcards. But all of the editions they had out had the postcards, so I don't know what the problem was.

Maybe I'll complain again when I return Volver and Weeds S2, which are now cheaper (by $2 and $7) at Amazon.

Update: And I did the Borat exchange with no problems. Day manager didn't know what was wrong with the night manager. Also had a clearly inexperienced cashier (same one both times!), so that probably didn't help.
