Used up my credit card to the limit and borrowed brother's card. Have to squeeze in another order of around $250 at DD on the last day. These 2.99 and 3.99 sales on BB and CC are not helping at all. Plus, i'm really fearing this Amazon's Customer Vote thing now. I havn't seen it before, but with all the good press, I figure, it's about time for a blind buy, most of my ones in the past have worked out well. I should say it's a calculated blind buy for me anyway.
I love looking at peoples' lists, so many idea, a movie you hadn't though about in awhile, a great price, etc...

Just got my first order, which I placed almost immediately after the sale went live. Everything was in good shape, except my Twin Peaks box was a little banged up at the corners and one disc in Planet Earth HD DVD is a little scuffed. I can live with the box and doubt the minor scuffs will cause playback problems (I hope!! any thoughts?).

Last week the new Tuesday releases became available for the 20% coupon a couple hours past Midnight. However in the last 20% off sale in Early June it took about 40 hours after Midnight for the new Tuesday releases to become eligible.

Received my order today a week after it shipped. However when I opened the box and inspected my order I discovered one of the DVDs were missing. There were 12 of 13 DVDs in the box. Double checking the web site the missing DVD was listed as shipped. Guess I need to contact Deep Discount to send out the missing disc unless it's backordered now.

Okay, I called. Unlike Amazon, I have to ship this one back and they can't ship a replacement until they receive it -- both via media mail. But I will need to send with delivery confirmation because when I sent one back a couple years ago, they never received it and said there's nothing they could do about it. (Part of me feels like I should just trade it at a Walmart after Christmas, as much as it pains me to use such a tactic.)

Since it's media mail, delivery times will greatly vary. As I posted before, I had 2 packages ship the same day (11/9). One came 11/13 the other on 11/17. You just never know...

I haven't seen anyone list Why We Fight as a purchase in this sale yet- and that's another exceptional piece of work. Good supplements on the disc too.

Yes sir, I'm on a huge documentary kick, my sis got me the Errol Morris box, then I got a bunch of the Critereon's doc, (Hoop Dreams, Burden of Dreams) A few music ones (Fearless Freaks, Gigantic) and trying to pick up ones I've been meaning to watch, which is most of that order. Still a few I want to check out, like Dark Days, about Homeless People in the old subway tunnels of New York.

I received my order yesterday. I received the 4 disc Kingdom Of Heaven opened in the box- wasn't wrapped in plastic. It looked like there was a sticker ripped off the box itself. I don't know if they shipped me a used or returned copy but I think I am done with Deep Discount. I've only ordered a few times and I have not been impressed.

I received my shipment today. Shipped on the 15th, it was in a pretty beat up padded envelope that wasn't even completely sealed. Had a piece of tape keeping everything from falling out(and you could see the stuff in the envelope). But overall things were in good condition just a minor ding on the Tekkaman Blade 3 collection. Luckily the Close Encounters of the Third Kind Blu-Ray seemed to have escaped unscathed.
They must be feeling some financial crunch, never had them ship an order this way, always been boxes or, even if it's a one title order a cardboard wrap.

My second order came in too today- or at least part of my second order- also in a padded envelope, also containing the Close Encounters Bd.
One of the titles, Straight Time, was not in the envelope, nor was there any notation on the invoice that said it was being shipped seperately.
I think someone just forgot to pack it.
I called up to tell them, but the CSR said she had to wait until the 28th to do anything about it(?)- which is odd because according to her information, the entire order of 3 titles went out the same day.
There is usually at least one or two speed bumps during a sale for me. If it gets resolved within the month I won't hold it against them.
Going by all the other posts that mention a disc or two missing though, it seems they are even sloppier than usual.

Yikes, I was planning on ordering a few more HD DVD titles from DD. However, hearing some of these shipment issues, I think I'll stick with Amazon for now.
I did order Ocean's 11-13 HD DVD set and the 2007 Stanley Cup DVD.
Keeping fingers crossed that there are no issues with my shipments.

You should be able to find them anyway these days. Its like a few cents per min.

I don't know of any of the big companies that bother for overseas customers. If I ever need a replacement from Amazon, they tell me to keep the bad DVD, as it's not worth posting it back. I also got the Superman set last year with the faulty discs, and rang up for the replacements. I got them fine, and they asked me to send the faulty discs back in the included envelope. It wasn't postage paid or anything though, so I still have those dodgy discs.

received most of my first order today...that was quick! the order was shipped via UPS even though i mention in various locations in my account to ship USPS only...no worries though as they shipped it via a different type (Savers) which resulted in no more duties than i would have to pay with USPS so i'm happy....now too much to watch!

well there goes the excitement...i went back to work and got home not too long ago...went through all the DVDs and 2 dvds were missing even though they said it was shipped with this order...
i'd imagine it was because of whoever shipped it...normally i see a checkmark besides all the titles on the receipt and didnt see any this time around...
has this ever happened to anyone else?
My order that came in yesterday was missing a disc.
And get this- there were only 3 titles in the whole order to begin with.
They threw two titles into a padded envelope with the invoice that clearly listed 3 and shipped it out.
No check marks next to mine either -and now that you mention it, I do have plenty of invoices from past sales with titles checked ...and have never gotten a package with discs missing before.
And we aren't alone either. I've seen this complaint several times in just the last few pages.
You have to wonder if how incompetant the extra help is, or if it is just a case of out and out theft.
Very, Very sloppy this year. :(

This is not necessarily DD related but does relate to earlier posts in this thread about Star Trek TOS.
I went to see a promo viewing in HD of The Menagerie (Star Trek 2-Part ep) at a local movie theater!! The improvement in quality and sound was THAT good and Susan Oliver looked even better than before. They opened with a ditty with Gene Roddenberry's son showing you much work they put into these new releases. They totally improved the picture, contrast and color, scratches, dirt, etc. They also seemlessly replaced some of the cheesier scenes. For example- the Enterprise going through space and going by a planet. They shot new scenes with new models and replaced the planets with new, more realistic and detailed ones. They also re-recorded the theme song from the original arrangements. Sounded incredible and true to the original. Though not in HD, the standard DVD side (the discs are 2-sided) will have all of these improvements, as well.
The honest truth is that that seeing it at the theater was so much fun, I would go to see other episodes in HD, too... at least the better ones. Seeing them with a theater full of adults was a blast with lots of laughter (esp. when involving Kirk.. the horn-dog that he is). Walking out of the theater, I felt much like what it did when I saw Wrath of Khan. But, I digress.
I have to believe that the price of the HD sets will come down dramatically next year. Worth waiting for.

I'm so, so glad I got the original series original version. Cheese was part of the charm. CGIing things up doesn't improve a classic.

shipping via USPS for me usually takes between 2 - 4 weeks. Depends on how fast customs is when they open each and every one of them. I'm in the same area as you too, so it should be similar if shipped via USPS.
Oh and they only will charge you one shipping charge, the first time they ship part of your order. Next time it should ship free.

Placed a order on 11/09/07 for the "Oskar Multimedia Cabinet (1080/504)" storage unit. It was shipped to Hawaii by UPS and arrived today 11/21/01. I brought one of these same dvd storage units during the last 20% off sale.
My friend who also lives in Hawaii. Ordered 2 of the "Oskar Multimedia Cabinet (756/360)" storage units a couple days after I placed my order. And one of the units arrived today at his place. It was also shipped by UPS.

I'm totally cool w/ that. I would never watch any of the additional extras than the ones that are included. I am just psyched to get such a good deal w/ remastered pictures, commentaries, etc. Plus I have never seen any of the 3 films on DVD, just VHS--so for me, it is still a steal for $20 clams. Plus I figured BEN-HUR would be 2-discs b/c it is 3 hours and 42 minutes long. On the classics, the bells & whistle extras that I usually must have on new releases are not as important for me; I just like to see the movie cleaned up in a digital format. Can't wait for the chariot scene on the 60-inch TV :clap:.

I received my order yesterday. I received the 4 disc Kingdom Of Heaven opened in the box- wasn't wrapped in plastic. It looked like there was a sticker ripped off the box itself. I don't know if they shipped me a used or returned copy but I think I am done with Deep Discount. I've only ordered a few times and I have not been impressed.-notrolls-s :lies:

Ready to place my order but Tuesday's releases are still listed as preorders. I called DD today & asked cs when the site updated . I was told midnight central time (which is 1 am eastern). Guess somebody forgot to flip the calendar over.
they still have the error in the checkout procress with the right shipping costs, so updating their database and software in not their favorite part ...
e.g. when ordering an DVD for $25,85 using the 20% ($20,68) the checkout shows $8,95. For international shipping the shipping costs are $5,95 if merchandise under $25. Iam in correspondense with them (incl. screenshot to show the error) for over a week now but they donīt see an error. They only say they donīt give the 20% on shipping. Very strange customer service department.

Thanks for the input. I think I vaguely remember that. Certainly that WAS a hot deal for the Python Megaset. Since I have all the Python episodes on tape, I can watch one whenever I want. Low quality, but the source was never high quality to begin with. I guess I'll wait. I may end up buying nothing at all from the DD sale.

This has been reported, posted several times in the past.
Sure its a little 'annoying' that they no longer 'calculate' the value of the order LESS 20% to then work out the international shipping rate - HOWEVER you are ONLY looking at a small difference in rate levels !! Example $12.95 to 16.95 (added - we are also SAVING 20% OFF during this sale).
GET OVER IT - It's like the cost of a cup of coffee or two (if you want to really COMPLAIN about shipping prices - go to Amazon.com - where each item gets hit with an extra $2.99 ! NOW THAT HURTS !! )
END NOTE: Note that the shipping price for B1G1F sales works the same as well - they calc the total of the item prior to discount.

I received my Hitchcock masterpiece collection today, and I'm impressed with it. I'd have probably spent a lot more on it a long time ago if I had ever handled and checked out a set myself in store.

Went to cancel an order today, only to find the website saying it had already shipped. Haven't yet gotten a tracking number via email, though. Would their customer service line have that available if it hasn't been emailed yet? I'm guessing it was shipped this morning, but I can't be certain.
Also, how often do the Blu-Rays come with the slipcovers (if they're supposed to have one)? My first order was missing the slipcover from The Jungle Book DVD, so I bought Cars & Ratatouille BR at Best Buy today, intending to cancel the order at DD so I wouldn't be shorted the slipcovers. If they'll come with the slipcovers, I'll just return these two I bought today to BB.

So any little known superbargains out there that might be overlooked by many? A few years ago I picked up the Ultraviolet series DVD set for a realy cheap price based on people's recommendations here and seeing so many people going for it. Anything like that out there for this sale?
Also, I'm reaaaally on the fence as to whether or not to shell out the $68 or so for the Angel series set. I was a big fan of Buffy/Angel. I bought the Buffy series set on DD(D) back when it came out during the 20% off sale, and I've never seen it cheaper since that sale. But I also haven't watched a single ep in the 2 or so years since I bought it! lol I'm afraid if I buy the Angel set, it'll be the same deal. Don't know if this is a super bargain, but I'd HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who doesn't have it yet. The Up Series, new boxed set including 49 Up.

I remember when Buffy was first released on disc- It was such a relief Fox was finally going to start putting them out after a long delay. I snapped up S1 immediately, and the same with S3 when that first hit.
Then they sat on the shelf.
And sat on the shelf.
Over the course of almost 2 years I think, everytime I went to the shelf to grab something to watch I would see their spines there, feel no interest whatsoever in watching them, and then feel a huge pang of guilt over having spent that much money on something I'd never wanted to watch in the 2 years I'd owned it.
Then one day, just for the hell of it I finally pulled it out and started watching. Over the next six months I bought and devoured every season of the show and had a blast.
It struck home that there was a good reason I initially bought it. It's great stuff. Someday when you do finally sit down to watch them, you'll be glad you have them- and all in one nice tidy package.
If you don't have a hundred other discs waiting to be watched a first time, I'd say go for it. And even if you do, it is a limited set. Hell, I remember picking up the first season at $25 and that was considered a steal at the time. here you get the whole series for little more than 2.5 times that.
if that isn't enough to convince you- a year from now this set will likely hold more of its value than that $68 in your pocket will.

I HAVE seen every ep. And, actually, about 3 years ago I bought my favorite 2 seasons - 2 & 3 - in a 1/2 price Sony sale for about $50. And then they announced the Buffy series set, and I saw the Angel series set was on sale in the UK. So I figured, hell, I'll sell 2 & 3 on eBay (unopened) and then use the proceeds ($75, as it turned out) to buy the Angel series set. So, in a way, I'm playing with the house money here. But then there's the Buffy experience of not watching it. But I think Paul_SD's convinced me with his own post above about how I'll eventually get to it - if not now or in a year from now, then eventually (plus, my oldest son is 6, so he'll be ready within..I dunno...5-7 years? what do you think). So I'm leaning toward it now! lol But I appreciate all the input though!

This has been reported, posted several times in the past.
Sure its a little 'annoying' that they no longer 'calculate' the value of the order LESS 20% to then work out the international shipping rate - HOWEVER you are ONLY looking at a small difference in rate levels !! Example $12.95 to 16.95 (added - we are also SAVING 20% OFF during this sale).
GET OVER IT - It's like the cost of a cup of coffee or two (if you want to really COMPLAIN about shipping prices - go to Amazon.com - where each item gets hit with an extra $2.99 ! NOW THAT HURTS !! )
END NOTE: Note that the shipping price for B1G1F sales works the same as well - they calc the total of the item prior to discount.
I have explained this quite a few times before as well in this thread...
In my case the order value was $248.96 (after 20% discount) and DD charged me $39.95 shipping charges. Took me 1 call to explain the situation and it was down to $16.95. CS agreed that there's a bug in the system when it comes to calculating shipping charges for int'l customers. I have received the refund of $23 already. Will place an order of round about same value tomorrow as well.

I also got the bulk of my order the other day. UPS beat up one of the packages and some of the boxes got messed up. The only one I'm really pissed about is that my nice Emilio Miraglia box set with the Red Queen figure had one whole corner smashed in. Bastards. Just thought I would post this to give a warning to users that have purchased, be extremely careful with your emails that supposedly read that they are from DD since I just received two emails that were scams. Thank god that Gmail caught it and through them in the spam section. I deleted them immediately.
Posted this at CAG as well.
I guess the scammers are coming out with full force now with DD. Perhaps the real DD/Dave can send out an actual email warning about this.

Did anyone get their X-Files season set damaged? I can't open the bottom pull out which contains the episode guide and other stuff because the weight of the dvd sets broke the box. Anyone know if I can get this exchanged?

I tell you the whole situation to see if you could help me:
As I said I live in Uruguay and a relative of mine is travelling to Minnesota till December the 15th so I said I place the order now, benefit from the 20% discount and save also the shipping to my country. But with these inconvenience I risk that the items arrive on time plus I lose the discount. I sent them an email but I suspect I would not have a quick response, so I am kind of stuck with this waiting for I donīt know which answer. I now sent them the creditīs card security code but I donīt know I that would help. What else can I do?

I wanted to shout out a BIG thank you to DD!
My Star Trek set came in today (shipped Wednesday, Thursday was a holiday, got it Monday- amazing). Not only was it dispatched and delivered lightening fast- but it was packed with extraordinary care. Two layers of bubble wrap, and then more paper packing around that. The set appears to be in mint condition (!?!).
All the more suprising after my Close Encounters box came indifferently thrown into a bubble wrap envelope with no other packing whatsoever.
Not to mention that so many other people are reporting damages with the set coming from places like Amazon.
Way to go DD!

after numerous attempts to get through by phone, i was able to arrange a return - they emailed me a return label. the lady who answered sounded exasperated. hopefully, they will send out the correct disc set. i wonder who opened up their 6 season order of all in the family to find it interrupted by the civil war.

DeepDiscount only issue working coupon codes twice a year during their summer and fall sale. They offer various sales throughout the year on certain items but these sales do not use coupon codes. You will have to will till summer 2008 for the next 20% off sale
