I found the problem/symptom for my TV and the cure for it. The only thing is that it's very tech-talk, and I can't make much sense of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Symptom:
Unit has a dark raster and will shutdown if the screen is increased. It will also shut down if the majority of the picture field exceeds 85 IRE video.
Cure:
This set has a ABL problem. Monitoring the ABL voltage at the flyback T551(3) we found it to be -0.9 volts no mater how bright the picture was. Check the resistance to ground we found it to be less than 5 ohms. This should be around 1.1 meg. Problem was caused by a shorted C524 a 0.22mfd@100vdc. Replacing corrected the problem.
guh?

Sounds to me like something that can only be corrected through a service menu or with a technician.

If it'll cost me more than $200, it's not worth fixing.

But could it be something as simple as replacing the fuse, which I could do myself?

The problem was due to a shorted capacitor that probably cost less than $1. Plus labor.

This is a simple repair but if you don't know what you're doing inside a TV you shouldn't attempt it because you could get killed.
