had decided on Samsung LN-T5265 went into best buy and salesman sold me on Panasonic TH50P2700. this item was on clearance due to it being older model, last one being display model.

all in all i paid $3100 (cad.) for the TV, they threw in 4yr. service plan and entertainment unit/stand of my choosing.

I am happy with my purchase, have not set it up yet, but was hoping I could get some input on whether anyone has had experience with display models before. due to the fact that the tv has been on for an undetermined amount of time.

You might want to find out if you can see how many hours the set has been on. Unfortunately, I have to say go to the AVS Forums and look in the specific Panasonic forum for service menu access. Being in Canada, this model probably won't show up but something similar will, and I'm sure the same settings will apply.

4 year service plan is nice, but, damn... I'd be leery of dropping 3K on a used (and likely abused) set.

What's the manufacture date on the back of the set? This will give you another idea as to how long it was on display.

A long time ago, the very first TV I bought was a display model. It wasn't bad but I'll never do it again (buy any display model). Too many unknowns about how it's treated and such. If it's been abused, I want to be the one to abuse it :D
