What font is used for the LOLcats pics?

I've looked all over and can't find anything that says what the font is that's used for the LOLcats pics that have been circulating. You know the font...it's the simple white letters with black borders. I don't know if it's an actual font style, or something that's found in Photoshop or what. I don't have Photoshop, so I wouldn't know.

Anyway, I was just wondering what the font is. Thanks.

How do you do the black outline? Most of the pics I've seen have a really thick outline to the font.

Most times you just apply the Stroke filter or a drop shadow to the text.

I already did that, but like I've said a couple times now, my main question was how to get the black outline around the font. I was already aware the font was either Arial Black or Impact. I can't duplicate the black outline.

If you're using Paint, I suggest trying to type in a larger point in black and overlay a smaller point in white.

Is there a way to do it in that software?

Also, what does "stroke" function mean? I've heard of it before.

I don't know that Paint.NET has vector (which you would need to stroke path.) If it does, it is usually under the "Edit" heading.
