Same here. Went to the local CC and saw they had the 2-disc for 4.99 instead of the older version.

woohoo! i was hoping for a misprice when i saw this week's halloween sales

picked this up with a (slightly damaged) slipcover to boot. it had inserts and all (unlike the target halloween release w/ invasion of the body snatchers and hannibal, so i'm good. now to return that 3-pack...

I wonder if this is part of the sale and they just put the wrong spine in the ad because the price range in the ad says something like $9.99-22.99 and this set is $19.99, which falls in line.

^ that might be the case... but at my CC, there were about 8 copies of the single-disc version shown in the ad along woth 3 of the 2-discers in the same bin.

Don't forget that Target has a box set of the 2-disc versions of Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Yeah--already took advantage of that deal and very happy with it.

This $4.99 is terrific if you don't have it or are looking to upgrade. Just finished watching it and it's easily one of my favorite films of all time.

keep in mind also that the target versions more often than not have NO INSERTS. hannibal should have a small two-page note from the director, i believe. silence of the lambs has a small production notes booklet and then 5 recipe cards. invasion of the body snatchers should have a booklet also. not a big deal for people who want the movies only, but for insert-happy people (like myself), buying these three films individually this week at CC gets is about the same price (~$2 more, i think) BUT you get inserts and slipcovers.

Ok, so I finally bought Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs!!!! I'm soooo happy And I also bought Predator Collector's Edition for $6.99 and there was also The Omen (1970's) 2-disc set for $6.99. So CC really had a lot of things they didn't add in the ad. That's a lot of savings!!!!!! BAD NEWS I want the Stanley Kubrick Box Set. Maybe for Christmas.

I got the hannibal insert in my box set oddly.
Neither of the others though.

I picked up Silence Of The Lambs (2D) at NYC CC and when I started to open it I noticed the case and cover had some deep gouges on it so I'll exchange it tomorrow. They had quite a few copies left so it shouldn't be a problem. Also bought the Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (2D) for $6.99. I loved the original version but this version seems to have quite a following.

That's what I heard regarding the inserts. I haven't opened my set from Target yet for just that reason. From the ads, I believe Hannibal and Invasion of the Body Snatchers are $6.99 instead of $4.99, so it's actually $4 more for the inserts and slipcovers. I still haven't decided if it's worth the extra $4, returning my Target set, and driving to CC for those.
