Is there some new ad screwing around w/ the browser?
Twice this morning when I've opened DVDtalk I've gotten a couple of pop-ups (talking about system performance IIRC) and I've been redirected to another site that again talks about scanning my machine for system performance. It also resizes the browser to full screen (w/o using the maximize). Both times it has been from Firefox. Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

Just got the same. Something was redirecting the browser to scanner.malware-scan.com and giving a alert box to install spyware. I had to close my browser in order to regain control.

I had it happen to me also as soon as I went to the site while using firefox. Some spyware from performance optimizer, it tried to install an ap, and re-directed me to their page when I backed out.

I got it twice today, once on two different PCs, both using FF. One browser updated after the popup.
Once was in other, the other was TV talk ( just a few minutes ago).

The redirect goes to :
http://performanceoptimizer.com/.lan...560f031f130f04
and the window has no right-click options:
http://performanceoptimizer.com/.lan...mp=null&460400

this is known as 'scumware'...
it's nothing more than malware/spyware that 'false positives' and installs itself onto a person's system...
this stuff has been added to many ad rotations on many forums over the last few months...
it coming from the ad rotation of the top of the forum... but functions as a hijack/redirect instead of a simple ad bar change...
the ad rotation companies have pretty much been uniform in claiming 'we didn't know' and 'this is against policy' and 'it won't happen again' but it's starting to look like these scumware companies are paying them good money to do it... so they are choosing to do it...
and so many 'less than highly literate' internet users fall for the stuff and pay them for the scumware it is lucrative...
it came up in the roattion for me this morning... identical to the problems we've had on other forums...
one of my knife forums had to stop doing business with the ad company to get it stopped... they kept claiming 'we didn't do it'... then proof was provided... then they claimed 'it won't happen again'... they kept lying and would not stop the stuff...
hopefully it will not be that type of thing in this case...

also just got this hijack/redirect ad...
http://www.createspace.com/?ref=2324...FQsNewodAXoGfA
'create space'...
this stuff has proven to be detrimental to visits and traffic as people get hit, get sick of it, or spend money on scumware and have spyware and etc...

DVD Talk Special Edition
Was browsing the forums just now when my window went poof and turned into a "system alert" ad for errclean.com. Very disconcerting, particularly since I just reformatted and reinstalled Windows on my machine yesterday due in large part to a similar piece of malware.
