Help me figure out this movie...

I'm having a major memory block here. What's the movie where a huge mob of people are at a train station or airport trying to get out of the city and someone - I believe - turns into a zombie and everyone freaks out, panicing trying to get away and there's a father with his son and he lifts him up onto a lamp post to get him up and away from the crowd and then he gets killed, but saves the son's life? I keep thinking it was something along the lines of 28 Days Later or War of the Worlds, but not those films specifically. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

There is a scene similar to that in 28 WEEKS Later. It was shown in one of the previews.

I just watched 28 Weeks Later the other day - that's not the culprit. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it was a deadly disease outbreak and not a zombification. And there might have been two kids that the father lifted up on the pole, not just one - I can't remember.

Didn't one of the characters in 28 Days Later describe the Rage virus spreading like wildfire at the airport and people panicking and getting trampled? The airport scene wasn't actually shown, though. And I don't specifically remember anything about a father and son.

This is exactly what I thought of. The guy who is with Selena at the beginning of the film mentions seeing his father looking back at him after becoming infected.

This was a scene I actually remember seeing, I just can't place the film. I'm almost positive it was a recent film too (from the last 10 years or so).

I hate to beat a dead horse but I'm sure you're thinking of 28 weeks later. I remember a scene described exactly like you say in a clip or preview back before it came out in theaters. When I finally saw it a few days ago on DVD the scene was different than I remember.
