Monsters & Creatures at best buy

I just found a box set for the midnight movies that were released by Fox about a month ago at best buy. It includes all the monster movie double features and food of the gods. the price was $39.99. not bad for nine movies.

they also had one for the horror movies that were released the same day.

edit: this is not supposed to be out until 10/16!

These were both out at mine as well...$39.99 is the regular price, so I had no problem using a 10% off coupon.

You have to admire Best Buy's marketing of these special deals. In that they singularly go out of their way to make sure that no-one hears about them.

Of course I own exactly 2 titles from each set. Guess I'll just keep buying the individual titles, maybe the next DD sale.

Excellent. Glad these sets include all of the MM's I didn't get yet. That so rarely happens. Count me in for both.

Is this the one that's going to be worth a fortune on ebay next year?

Well, now Best But not carrying a damn one of the single releases last month makes sense.

Highly doubtful...The only thing "exclusive" here is the box holding the cases. Everything inside are the exact same things you can buy individually elsewhere.

Best Buy did carry the single titles - just not in the stores, only online. Maybe this explains why. Some of the Midnite range past issues were Best Buy exclusives (one of which went badly wrong). It sounds as though this time the bundled sets in boxes are the exclusive.

The ones that get very expensive in ebay etc are the Best Buy only Universal releases - last year's Ultimate Sci-Fi Collection and this year's Ultimate Sci-Fi #2 and Horror archive. If they are like last year's they will only ever be in Best Buy, and in limited numbers.

However, it looks as though there are more copies this year. The website went to Sold OUt briedly, but they are in stock again. Last year they went Sold Out and stayed that way.

Bizarrely, this year's sci-fi release wasn't advertised at all, and was initially in-store only (whether this was deliberate or a screw-up is anyone's guess), although the Horror set was advertised and available for pre-order. So it was likely a screw up.

Beats me why any studio would want to lock itself into a store that handles things that way. Well, I guess Best Buy make it worth their while.

I wish they were thinpak.

I remember considering buying the Sci-Fi collection so long ago. Now that I know it's a rare collector's item I wish I had. Of course, since I missed the first one I am too lazy to buy the last copy we have of the second one...

I am tempted to get this set. I really want to see Yongary.

Are there enough good movies in the sets for $40?

Later

Monsters and Creatures Set -Duplicate Discs?

I purchased both sets this weekend. I opened the sets and for the Monsters and Creatures Set, the discs for Chosen Survivors/The Earth Dies Screaming were duplicates discs inside.

There were two copies of The Earth Dies Screaming. Has anyone else had this happen? Just checking. I will be taking theset back to Best Buy.
