My wife and I have been making a wish list of several box sets and DVDs to consider purchasing during the anticipated November DD 20% off sale. So I could compare the prices then to the prices we saw back in September, I started a spreadsheet with over 100 movies or box sets listed on it. I entered the dvdpricesearch.com best price and the DD price on September 16th and updated the list again yesterday and today.
To keep the list consistent, I deleted the products for which DD didn't have a price on one or both dates. I ended up with 87 entries for which I could compare the prices between the two dates. I was very surprised at the results.
The best price on dvdpricesearch.com didn't change much. 74 prices stayed the same, 8 went up, and 5 went down.
The DD prices changed quite a bit, though, because there was an increase in price on 50 of the products during the 3+ weeks between my price checks! The price increases on those 50 products ranged from 5% to 31.2% with an average increase of 13.5%. The prices for 35 of the products stayed the same, and only 2 went down in price . The two price reductions were 1.8% and 4.5% lower than the previous price.

My primary reason to check these prices originally was to see how much they would cost and try to develop a predicted budget. I also thought it might be beneficial to see if the DD prices went up prior to its 20% off sale so I could make sure I was purchasing at a good price.
