Happy Birthday Guillermo del Toro!!!

Today is Guillermo’s b-day so I’m shouting out (basically a general appreciation thread).

Here’s to a guy who has made awesome monster movie after awesome monster movie from movie #1. He took a genre most viewed as cheap fun and elevated it to high art while retaining the fun.

The director whose commentaries on DVD extras are about 100 times more informative and hilarious than almost all others.

And not in the least one of the most connected with his fans that I’ve ever seen and generally an awesome human being.
Cheers Sr. del Toro and Happy Birthday!

I loved his little people trilogy but the one with the monkey was only so-so.

Wait, who are we talking about here?

No kidding. Every time I've seen him in passing he not only remembers my name but gives me a bear hug simply because of some off shoot comment on where my family is from.

Feliz Cumpleanos!

Awsome freaking director. Everytime I watch one of his movies I think, "This is what Terry Gillium could have been."

A day late and he doesn't read this, but hey, Happy Birthday to my all time favorite director.
