Does Sigourney Weaver Really Need The Money?

Just saw the new DirectTV commercial with her Ripley character.

C'mon Sig .... How much did they pay you?

Does Charlie Sheen really need the money? Oh wait, alimony and child support, maybe he does...

New? This is at least 6 months old. And what about Pamela Anderson?

I love that commercial. How do they manipulate the scene in the movie to say something different??

Does Mike Myers need the money? Does Peyton Manning?

The fact is that, if DirectTV wants to use her likeness to sell satellite TV, she has a legal right to be compensated.

As I don't recall her doing any major films in this century, it's quite possible she needs the bucks.

The most major thing she's done these past few years was Shyamalan's The Village, but she's had roles constantly in smaller films.

Well, why wouldn't she do it? They probably offered her at least a million dollars,if not more....for what was probably ONE day of work. A million dollars for one day of work. Not too shabby.

They don't... they re-shot the scene. If you look closely the machine she is in is actually about 75% the size of the original one. All of those commercials are re-shoots with the original actors.

Oh yeah... I hate all of those commercials!

I figured it was a mix of old and new. The closeups being the only new shooting. Commercial doesn't bother me at all... hard to pass up easy money.

The thing that stands out for me is how well Weaver has held up. Not many women could do a reshoot 20+ years later and have it come off as well.

Have you seen the Shatner one? Makeup and CGI can do wonders.

I wouldn't say the CGI in the Shatner/Star Trek one did "wonders"; it was really unconvincing and actually pretty creepy-looking.

I've only seen the commercial once. Does anyone have a link to it?

I was really surprised that I had trouble telling the difference between the original and new footage. Especially since it's been 21 years since Aliens! CGI, then?
